Half of production duo Bodyrox, Ivor Novello Nominee Nick Bridges has been widely tipped as one of the UK's hottest young DJ/producers.
Having produced the biggest electro record of the Miami WMC 2006 with production partner Jon Pearn, Bodyrox 'Yeah Yeah' went on to become 'the club anthem of 2006' with the help of Luciana, spurring a new genre of house that journalists are calling 'Nu Rave'.
With specialist radio support from Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Fergie, Dave Pearce, Zane Lowe, Jo Whiley, Annie Mac, Edith Bowman, Annie Nightingale, Sarah Cox and Trophy Twins on Radio One alone, 'Yeah Yeah' smashed into the UK national chart in November 2006 at 2 (Radio One Playlist 1, Cool Cuts 1, Shazam Tag Chart 1, Beatport Download Chart 1, The Box Playlist 1).
With a further productions signed to majors (Positiva, Data, Phonetic & Eye Industries/Universal) for release later this year (including 'Sound of Eden' (DMC Buzz Chart 1, Cool Cuts 1)); and residencies at a number of the most famous and influential clubs in the World including MoS and Fabric London, 2007 is shaping up to be quite a year for Nick.
The global success of ‘Yeah Yeah’ has led to many assumptions that Nick is a relatively new face on the global house scene, although the truth is he has been a mainstay for nearly 8 years.
Having worked closely with Ministry of Sound since 1999 and later showcased during a 7-hour set at the Millennium Dome New Years Eve 2000. Nicks performances led to a succession of dates and residencies across Europe, including Privilege, Pacha and Space, Ibiza; leading to his appointment as Ministry of Sound's World Tour Resident in 2001 - seeing him to play every weekend around the World for Ministry of Sound.
In addition to his grueling tour schedule, Nick was asked to compile and mix his first Ministry of Sound Album in Summer 2002 and was invited to perform on the Nescafe World Tour and the Bacardi Tour of Spain. He ended the year with a return to the Millennium Dome for NYE 2002.
Following three years on tour, Nick returned to the UK in 2003 to become Ministry of Sound London's Saturday Sessions resident (alongside Mark Knight) allowing him to concentrate on production with his production partner Jon Pearn and host the Saturday Sessions radio show on Ministry of Sound Radio. Later that year, Pearn & Bridges' debut was signed to Big Love achieving Hype/Club chart success with support from all the usual suspects.
2004 saw Nick tipped as 'one to watch' by IDJ mag; a sentiment shared by the industry and clubbers nominating Nick in the 2004 House Music Awards' 'Breakthrough DJ' category alongside Nic Fanciulli. The industry leading award programme was created 'to recognise and celebrate the creators and innovators of house music'.
Pearn & Bridges launched Juki Records in 2005 with their debut '$treet Price' receiving unanimous support from the UK press (5/5 IDJ Mag August 2005) and DJ support across the board from the likes of Deep Dish, Sander Kleinenberg, Mutiny and many more.
In addition to two new residencies at Fabric London (DJ Mags 1 club in the World) and The Cross for DTPM and Fiction respectively; and the news that Nick was to become the latest specialist to join one of the UK's biggest dance stations Vibe FM, Ministry of Sound announced Nick was to front their Housexy project - compiling and mixing a series of albums for the World's most famous super club.
Having recently won 'Guest Mix of the Year' (2006) on Andi Durrant's Galaxy show, Nick and Jon are currently working in the studio with some of the Worlds biggest singer songwriters including Luciana. Expect to hear a lot more from Pearn & Bridges and their various pseudonyms (Bodyrox, Another Chance, R.A.W) in 2007.
