About Me

King of the Cambridge Airwaves, Davey Hampton is an accomplished and passionate DJ with 14 years experience and a massive love for music in general.
He landed his 1st residency in 1997 after being spotted by a local 'UK Garage' promoter for a night called 'Nu Vybe' in his home town of Cambridge. This then lead to many other opportunities and several residencies locally and across the UK within one of the biggest UK club movements of the 1990â€™s, allowing Davey to play at some of the biggest events and alongside some of the biggest names in the industry, such as BBC Radio 1â€™s Legendary 'Dream Teem'.
2005 saw a change in direction for Davey as he moved away from 'UK Garage' and back into 'House music'! With this change came the opportunity for Davey to host 'Shameless', his very own Radio Show on Cambridge University's, 'CUR1350'.
After a year of hosting the ever popular 'Shameless' show he was introduced to 'Rhythm at Work' promoter, Andy Northrop, by a mutual friend. From that introduction, Daveyâ€™s show soon became 'Digital Rhythm' in association with 'Rhythm at Work'! With Daveyâ€™s professional approach to DJâ€™ing & Broadcasting and 'Rhythm at Work's contacts within the industry, the show has gone from strength to strength, allowing Davey to have guest mixes from world class DJâ€™s such as Mark Knight (Toolroom records), Dave Spoon (Toolroom Records) Nick 'Bodyrox' Bridges, Patrick Hagenaar (Housexy), Daley Padley, Kate Lawler and Mark Wilkinson (Kidology records) to name but a few. This in turn has helped him build up a loyal listenership who tune in every week and follow him all over the region to each and every gig he plays.
Since forming the radio partnership with 'Rhythm at Work', Davey is now a resident DJ for 'Rhythm at Work' and regularly plays at Parties in prestigious venues such as 'The Ministry of Sound', London, 'Turnmills', London for Gifted Promotions and at Cambridgeâ€™s premiere venue 'The Fez Club' for Nick 'Bodyrox' Bridges where he also holds a high profile residency. He also has regular gigs for 'So Rude' at Peterborough's 'Gem' and Stamford's most stylish venue, 'Harry's'. Much more is planned for Davey over the Spring/Summer Period so keep your eyes open and your ears to the airwaves because youâ€™re gonna be seeing and hearing a whole lot more of him.
The next big gigs in Davey's calendar are Sunday 24th May for 'We Love Ibiza' @ Cambridge Fez Club, Saturday 30th May alongside DJ Unique for 'The Priory gets Charged' Boat Party, Sunday 31st May for the Official 'Priory gets Charged' Afterparty at Soul Tree, Cambridge, Saturday 6th June alongside Dan Smith (Liquid People, Danism) @ Cambridge Fez Club, Saturday 20th June alongside Nick 'Bodyrox' Bridges @ Cambridge Fez Club, Saturday 27th June for 'Charged @ Soul Tree, Cambridge, Saturday 4th July alongside Dan Smith (Liquid People, Danism) @ Cambridge Fez Club, Saturday 18th July alongside Nick 'Bodyrox' Bridges @ Cambridge Fez Club and Saturday 25th July for 'Charged' @ Soul Tree, Cambridge.
You can catch Davey presenting 'BLEEP RADIO' every Thursday from 8-10pm (GMT) on www.cur1350 or 1350 Medium Wave across Cambridge.
We mustn't forget to give a mention to Paul Pilsworth, Davey's regular partner in crime and 'Brother from Another' and also DJ Lloyde (www.myspace.com/deejaylloyde), both of whom are Davey's very best friends and Lloyde is a hugely talented DJ and Producer. Together they have worked on several gigs around the region and can still be found having the odd beer in town every once in a while!
Davey has a huge love for football and is an avid Spurs supporter and also tries to get at least one week on the slopes each year for some madness on the pistes!
