About Me

"Keeping Chocolate Milk in its Place" is a mullti-leveled metaphor for what I do with my time every day. I work hard to keep it from spilling. I work to keep that goodness where it belongs. Ask me and I will explain it to you. It happens also the be the working title for a writing project I am working on.What I do is, I work every day to keep chocolate milk in its place.I am a husband, a father of six, a professional in my "day job," a champion smart-ass, a son, a man unsure of himself, a writer, a lover, a brother, a friend, a teenage-parent, a scholar, a trouble-maker, a poet, an outside-agitator, an ogre, a protector, the worst kind of monster, and the only person I know like me. There are lots of stories out there. This one is mine.This space is used to expose and promote my writing project. It is an autobiography of shorts. It is built in pieces, which I refer to as "essays." Some are stories, some are something else. They are not chronological. The sum total of essays will tell my story.

Propaganda, pop-culture, subversive movements, gerrymandering, and all manner of general wrong-doing.

Movies:

I love movies. They are the new literature. All-time favorites, The Graduate, Pulp Fiction, Paint Your Wagon, Clerks. Current Favorites: The Life Auquatic, Primer, The Aristocrats.

Television:

I love and hate my television, but I am deeply in love with my TIVO. While I would love to be one of those people who just "doesn't watch TV" as if I were too cool, or too intellectual for it or something, I am hooked on pop-culture, and television is the place for it. Here is what I TIVO and watch every week. The Office, Family Guy, SNL, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, The Showbiz Show. I have recently also loved Arrested Development and That 70s Show, but, you know what happened.

Books:

I try to read a bunch, mostly non-fiction anymore. But I have recently been hooked again reading Heinlein's lesser novels. If you don't already love Robert Heinlein you should. If it has been years since you have loved him, try him again. My favorite authors are also Steinbeck, Kesey, Kerouac, Franken.... I try to limit myself to American Culture and American Lit.
