By the age of five I knew that I was going to be a musician. Hearing the sounds of KISS blasting through the speakers made me realize that I had to play guitar in a rock band. It was nearly a decade later that my mom, after being begged relentlessly, finally decided to buy one for me. At that point, it was all about the metal riffage. I joined my first band playing covers of bands we dug and at fifteen I played my first bar. Life was cool! I ended up doing the cover band thing for a while until I realized that writing songs was what I really wanted to do. I put together a band called V-SHAPE MIND and we set out to do the nearly impossible for a Decatur band........Get a record deal. We eventually got signed, made a record with a great producer, and next thing we knew we were on tour. The dream was pretty short-lived however. The record company basically decided that they weren't going to promote the band. Life was not so cool! By this time I'd been writing songs for a number of years, pretty much just rock songs. Although I dig very different types of music I hadn't delved into that world as a writer. So, my intention was to do V-SHAPE MIND until it ran its course and then make a solo record of songs that weren't rock but reflected other stuff that I'm into. When the label decided to bend us over (what.....no reach-around?) that's when I decided that it was time to pursue the solo thing. Life is cool again!
