About Me

"The fence around a cemetery is foolish, for those inside can't get out and those outside don't want to get in." - Arthur Brisbane
That quote definitely doesn't describe me...I love visiting old cemeteries, as well as haunted places and historic sites around Ohio and surrounding states. I've been taking quite a few cemetery hunting trips around the New England area over the past two years as well...I LOVE the old slate gravestones up there. But anyway, a locked fence around an old cemetery is terrible! So while I'm not ready to stay in a graveyard for eternity, I do like spending most of my free time walking around them.
I add the photos I take at these places to my site, Grave Addiction . I usually update the site once a week...working on the site is an addiction too!
But ghost hunting and cemetery exploring aren't my only interests. I also enjoy:
Gardening - I plant mainly herbs and perennials. I also plant many poisonous plants.
One of the angel trumpets I grew.
Collecting antiques - I adore old photographs (especially post mortem and mug shots), prison related items, funeral/death related items, old postcards, ouija boards, and old books (especially ones about cemeteries, funerals, the 1913 flood, and prisons). I also like old glassware.
Open casket post mortem photos are awesome.
Going to flea markets/antique stores with my friends to look for the antiques mentioned above! It's fun to help them look for the things they collect too. Auctions are great too - I am an eBay addict, but I also like live auctions.
A mug shot from the old Ohio Penitentiary in Columbus, Ohio.
Reading. Cooking. Spending time with my family and friends. I'm also a member of the Ohio Historical Society, the Association for Gravestone Studies (I am on the board of trustees, as of June 2007), the Columbus Landmarks Foundation, the Columbus Historical Society, and the Fairfield Heritage Association. I'm also in a few paranormal investigation groups, BSPHI and OEPS. I enjoy attending events sponsored by all of these organizations. And I can't forget the frogs! I have three two White's Tree Frogs: Ted, Murphy, and Holden.

My Interests

Cemetery exploration, ghost hunting, urban exploration, collecting antiques, going to flea markets, reading, gardening, cooking, traveling. And last but certainly not least, working on my site, Grave Addiction .

I'd like to meet:

Fellow ghost hunters, urban explorers, photographers, collectors, etc...but I'm really not picky, I'll talk with anyone!

Music:

Rock, classical, jazz, opera. I'm not a big fan of country or rap, but I can tolerate both.

Movies:

My favorite movie? The Shawshank Redemption. Horror movies are great, and I also like anything involving mysteries, suspense, and crime. Comedies are good too.

Television:

I really don't watch TV, just the news occasionally.

Books:

I read A LOT! I have way too many favorites to list. If I had to pick just one book though, I would have to choose One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey.

I'm also a big fan of the following authors, and have read almost all their books: Jeffery Deaver, Clive Barker, John Saul, Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, John Irving, and Gregg Olsen.

I also read a lot of ghost hunting books. If I had to choose a favorite in this category, I'd have to go with Ghosthunting Ohio by John B. Kachuba.

And that's not all...I told you I like to read, didn't I?!

I'm almost always reading old books about cemeteries, prisons, and the 1913 flood. I can never learn enough about these topics, and I try to share some of the interesting things I learn from these books on my site.
