About Me

Thanks for stopping by my page. Wow. I've been on here since '06' now, I believe. Myspace was a suggestion from kids at the time. It's been a great way for me to meet new friends and share my music, silliness, and life with others. I can't believe I'll be a half century old this year. I still feel like a kid and if you know me you know I really am a big kid. Obviously I love to play music. I love to listen to music too-many kinds. I also seem to be a person that for whatever reason God has His hands on-thankfully. Some of my greatest accomplishments in life are completely unknown -such as, a spark of inspiration in the heart of a child I taught, a poem from a man in a wheelchair I carried for years....BTW, I seem to be quite technically challenged at times. Here I'm trying to redo this old bio and lost my page color and have all this ridiculous text here. I guess I was a little too sentimental anyway! Hey, if you can help me out, drop me a line. Thanks.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: burnlounge.com/lightfoot
Band Members: Always looking for great musicians to play with and share their music with others!
Influences: Lets see, there was Eric Clapton, then definitely the Beatles, Jody Johnson(a fantastic guitar teacher at Melody Music and Wallace Reed in the 70's in Atlanta), Jimi Hendrix, ZZTop, ARS, Santana,..., Al DiMeola, all 60's and 70's rock with a little of my parents music thrown in (like swing), my grandmother's ragtime/stride piano, mom's gospel piano, Phil Keaggy followed by several years of nothingness. Then the emerging of Southern Gospel, Chet Atkins and his many fantastic followers, and a little bluegrass. Kind of sounds like the reciepe for a musical mess ;) I like all music well done. Fingerstyle guitar is one of the most challenging styles around and I would be remiss to not mention Doyle Dykes. He has inspired me personally and spiritually as well as musically. Also Tommy Emanuel, Johnathan Burchfield, Merle Travis, Buster B Jones, Thom Bresh and the list keeps on going.I like some classical guitar and employ a few techniques from it but mostly play different songs(I can't spell repouitouire, see). I think the hiccuping, chicken pickin' style of guitar is fantastic. I like jazz but don't play it much(Lenny Breau was the man). Check out some of my friends for most are awesome players and many I work with in music and some are my local inspiration-especially Barry Thrasher, Peter Vogl, and Barry Richmond. I haven't met Scott Hall yet but he sounds awesome too!
Sounds Like: Merle Travis meets Dicky Betts?! A train wreck? Hopefully you won't have to tell me something like "if you keep pickin' it like that, it's gonna get infected!"
