About Me

I do a podcast! It's called Hanging On For Mercy . Expect a new one every two weeks. Hoo doggies, it's even playing on my profile right now!!

I write for Stomp and StammerStomp and Stammer , the best damn music read in the Southeast and beyond. When I'm not shooting my mouth off over on the GaragePunk.com .

I make art, cook Southern comfort food, go see live music, travel..... Any old time, I dig fuzz guitars, swirly music, soulful songs, a good story, long road trips, square plates, bright colors and old shiny things. A good laugh or flattering attention will always win me over initially, but in the end, I value loyalty, compassionate honesty, insightful listeners, and people who do what they say they're gonna do.

Oh, enough about me... Let's go swimmin' !!

Come take a gander at my Flickr photos! Art, people, parades, bands, music, happenings, tiny details, expansive vistas, and lots of bright colors and shiny things!

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

My Interests

Music fuels everything... primitive roots music, bangin' R&B, bluegrass, country, new wave, power pop, yummy neo-psyche. I also dig fine art ceramics, both making them and gawking. I get lost in the paintings and drawings by Will Henry Stevens, particularly his work with pastels. I geek hard over mid-20th century design, media criticism, pondering what makes people tick. Best ways to while away a day: a fine meal with or without a white tablecloth, sand in my toes, junkin', a good laugh, a long float in the lake as the faintest strains of Otis Redding wafts across the water's surface to where I'm bobbing in the cove.

I'd like to meet:

Road trippers, cocktail sippers... collectors, compulsively creative types... witty, snarky folks with a healthy sense of irony and a wicked sense of humor... passionate folks who cook without recipes, listen to their gut, and strive to live an authentic life.
