Myspace Contact TablesSniper was born in 1982 in the small Dutch town called Sneek (pronounce as Snake). His birth name Steffan van Dalen is being replaced by DJ Sniper in 1998, when he starts his career as a scratch deejay with a simple turntable and an old mixer. Soon Sniper learns the necessary techniques. The simple turntable is replaced by two Technics 1200s and he enters his first deejay battles. In the year 2000 Snipers wins his first title Rookie of the Year at the Dutch DMC finals in Nijmegen. That is just the beginning!!!Sniper feels he can do more and he becomes runner up at the Dutch DMC Supremacy battle which gives him a ticket to the world finals in London. Unfortunately Sniper did not win any title. The same year his former crew SWOT Team releases a track called Dr. Thumbs Theme on the compilation album Cues Hip Hop Shop volume 2.In 2001 Sniper decides to take a step back. He only competes in a small number of battles but he does not survive the elimination rounds. But in 2002 Sniper is back in business. He releases a solo track on the compilation cd Global Turntables. After this success, Sniper travels to San Francisco for a period of three weeks where he meets djs like Q-Bert, D-Styles, 2Fresh, Space Travelers etc. His visit to the Bay does not remain low profile as Sniper shows his skills on four different radio stations.Back from the Bay Area with new inspiration, he enters the 2002 Dutch DMC finals and becomes 4th. The confidence is growing again.In the year 2003 Sniper decides to extend his musical boundaries by spinning disco, funk, soul and popular pop music. The music appears to be very popular with the crowd and young&old are going wild and soon Sniper is spinning at every club in Snake City. This same year Sniper becomes runner up in the Dutch DMC and ITF battles.At the end of 2003 Sniper returns to San Francisco to hook up with deejays and building his reputation. After his trip he immediately enters the Turntablized battle in Amsterdam but unfortunately he is eliminated in the first round. In December 2003 he again enters the Dutch DMC finals where he wins the third prize. Between the battles and the trip to the USA, Sniper comes out with three releases: the track Sniper meets Edmund on the local compilation cd Supply & Demand, the mix cd Phonographic Lapdance and Studio 27 another mix cd with music from the 70s and 80s.The year 2004 starts off well for Sniper. He is opening for a Cali Agents concert (unfortunately only with Cali Agent Planet Asia). Later Sniper spins at the afterparty of the legendary Dj Kool Herc in a local bar called Ludiek. After these great performances Sniper is entertaining people through internet radio. He is replacing Dj Hopke from Groningen on the internet show Step Up Front (www.nauticradio.net). In September 2004 Sniper is entering the regional finals with local emcee Bedeac. They are competing for the Grand Prize of the Netherlands.
