Whack Is In- Count Me The !%@$ Out!

About Me

Influenced by the hip-hop and electro styles of the early 80’s, DJ Quest has contributed to the DJ's art form by bringing a more aggressive scratch tactic to the battle scene. Quest, featured in the Palm Pictures documentary SCRATCH, is a veteran of the DMC, New Music Seminar and countless other battles. Quest coined “Hamster Style,” a unique technique of reversing the set up of turntables into a mixer to facilitate new styles of scratching. Today the term and technique remain popular and are used by DJs worldwide. Quest is one of the founding members of Bullet Proof Scratch Hamsters/Space Travelerz. Together they created “Hamster Breaks,” the first battle style record.Beginning in 1996, Quest expanded musical horizons by forming the experimental jazz-hip-hop trio Livehuman in San Francisco. Since its formation, Livehuman has self-produced records for the British based label Fat Cat Records, the Bay Area’s Hip Hop Slam, Matador Records and their own independent label Cosmic Records. This new artistic outlet gave Quest the opportunity to showcase his skills all over the world, with performances in the Roskilde Music Festival in Denmark, Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Transmusicales Music Fest in France, and the DJ’s For Life conference in the UK.Apart from solo tours worldwide, Quest has also accompanied Quannum artist, Latyrx, The Bomb Hip-Hop DJ’s, Future Primitive Sound Session and Space Travelerz. In the summer of ‘07, Quest toured with Mike Patton’s Peeping Tom in Australia. More recently, Quest toured the West Coast with MC extraordinare Apostle of Heavy Weight Dub Champion. In addition to recording an arsenal of DJ tools, Quest has also collaborated with Dan “The Automator” (Handsome Boy Modeling School), Blackalicious, Rob Swift (Xecutioners), Z Man, Sacred Hoop, Eddie K, Topper, DJ Zeph, DJ Q Bert (Do It Yourself vol. 2), Wide Hive collective Variable Unit and The DJ Project. On the solo front, Quest recently released a packed 12" “Bullet Proof’s Back”/"Ghetto Stash," an underground anthem with Eddie K on vocals. Due in April of 2008 is “Questolous,” a full length assortment of collaborations with underground DJ’s, MC's and producers highlighting Quest's virtuosity on the cut.Find more videos like this on www.truveo.com.
