About Me
This is the official artist page of Arythmia a.k.a. Davey Jonez a.k.a EKG, an artist of the highest order, profoundly creative and uncompromising in style and content, established not only as one of the most original artists on the scene but also as a freestyle beast in the NY underground in everything from EOW MC Challenges, to the MTV MC Battles, to street cyphers, to the hit Double-Wide Friday Night Pre-Game.Born David Aubrey Saitzyk in Paterson NJ 1978 and instilled with a love of the arts from the very beginning, I was constantly exposed to all different genres of film and tv (My first babysitter had 13 channels) and music (mostly blues and classic rock). Acting was and always will be my first love, but as an artist you explore all channels of creative outlet. While they are both very real, I never like to limit myself to any type of confines especially when my mind is given creative free-range. Acting and music are only two of my passions. Before hip hop was there, there was and always will be poetry, there are just some things that aren't meant to be put to song, and there is a depth to poetry that most music can never rival, poetry was my first creative writing outlet and will always be a deep part of me. I started rhymin, just freestylin while the L was goin round and battlin cats for fun in '95, then in 2000 I linked up with Ronnie Henson while he was producing "200 Watts" for Michael Jackson's "Invincible." He heard me on some freestylin and immediately we began working together collaborating on several tracks including "Sittin On The Corner" and "World Premier," before life altered priorities and took my focus away from the game I love so much. After a while, the notebooks started pilin' up again with no outlet, and then, I was introduced to EOW. I was home, in the belly of the NY underground. Before long, I decided to dual task with a solo career and as a founding member of the group Double-Wide along side Revolution. Music is everywhere in my family, my father was the front man for the Backwater Blues Band, my brother is a guitar protege, and my grandmother was a radio star in the 30's. On the other side of the family, my grandfather was a jazz musician who toured with some of the biggest names in jazz after retiring from playing for the US Army Band during World War 2. Music is a part of who I am, a big part of my heart and soul and my music is a representation of the creative nature that dwells within. My songs are a part of me and a vision that I have, I don't ask everyone to feel what I say, cause frankly, I don't care if it's always well received. My music is made for me and those who do (can) appreciate it. I've been compared to many, but my style is my own and undefined at that! I am truly a one of a kind, one of God's own prototypes, never even considered for mass production, too weird to live and too rare to die. They say that genius is a skill of insanity...let me be the first to say, I am certifiable. We will not see the world through the same eyes, I just try to tell a story, my story.Odi et amo. quare id faciam, fortasse requiris?
