Versatile & Mista Chorus

About Me

Hip-Hop----------"A culture given birth by inner city youth in the mid-70's, consisting of four basic elements (graffiti, breakdancing, DJing and MCing) and a creative ideology."----------"Hip-hop is supposed to uplift and create, to educate people on a larger level and to make a change."----------"Hip hop is inherently political, the language is political. It uses language as a weapon -- not a weapon to violate or not a weapon to offend, but a weapon that pushes the envelope that provokes people, makes people think."Versatile & Mista Chorus represent Rockland County, New York, raised in Suffern, where they reside today. The two joined forces in 2003, rocking out tracks in Mista Chorus' basement just to have fun and kill some time. Little did they know that these tracks would be the beginning of a local following that would label them as two of the nicest MCs to come around in a while. The duo began focusing on putting out a solid album that they hoped would jumpstart even more of a following than before. The result was the The Saga, unofficially released in 2006.With the local success of their independent debut album, The Saga, Versatile & Mista Chorus have dedicated themselves to manifesting a sound in hip-hop that represents all of the aspects in the above quotes. Staying true to hip-hop, while at the same time giving people an array of styles -- whether it be old school, golden age, underground, or just VMC -- these two MCs/Producers/Engineers seem to understand what it is that not many hip-hop artists tend to get nowadays: "It's all about the music."Their much anticipated second independent album, Take Me Back, has a tentative release date of mid-November/early December. Cleverly combining hip-hop with genres such as jazz, funk, and classic rock, and harnessing a keen sense for the abstract and creativity possessed by few in hip-hop is what will make Take Me Back an album that many will choose to embrace. Versatile & Mista Chorus have innate qualities that are not seen very often in the music business these days -- drive, ethic, knowledge, and an understanding of what music is and how it should be made and put forth. Combine that with some original flows and some live ass beats, Take Me Back is just a small taste of what could be a very bright future for these two young talents.----------Check out "THE LAB" hosted by yours truly VERSATILE & MISTA CHORUS every SATURDAY AT 9PM only on ROCKLANDWORLDRADIO.COM!
