Captain Styles was a Starfleet officer in the late 23rd century. He was known to carry a swagger stick.In 2285, Captain Styles was placed in command of the USS Excelsior (NX-2000) which was, at that time, a test for the experimental transwarp drive. When Admiral James T. Kirk hijacked the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) from Earth Spacedock, Styles was ordered to stop him. Although confident of his ship he did not succeed, because the Excelsior had been sabotaged by Captain Montgomery Scott.The Excelsior,he captains now, is outfitted with twin transwarp drives, to keep up with other starships of the times.
