About Me
About me A career spanning over the last fifteen years, DJ Scott Gardner has both been a mainstay of commercial grooves, as well as continuing the tradition set by the likes of John Course, Andy Van and Colin McMillan of continuously pushing the boundaries of dance music on the Mornington Peninsula, located an hour south east of Melbourne, Australia.Born and bred in the suburb of Frankston, Scott began his DJ'ing career in 1993, 'doing his apprenticeship' by playing small parties for friends and mobile discos for various booking agents throughout Melbourne. He landed his first club gig in 1996, which initially saw him playing a mix of commercial dance and r'n'b, Scott also played 'Triple J' inspired indy pop/rock, which saw him play alongside high profile Australian bands such as Grinspoon, Powderfinger, Shihad (now Pacifier) and The Superjesus. During this time, he was also playing a variety of clubs including The Saloon Bar (Frankston and South Yarra), Mountain View Hotel, Wild Bills, Stylus Nightclub as well as the Hallam Hotel where he was the resident while they won the Australian Hotels Association (AHA) Best Venue 2 years in a row.In 2000, Scott Gardner was hand picked by Colin McMillan and John Course to be the resident DJ when they opened their boutique club "The Voodoo Lounge", Scott stamped his authority on the scene by showing his versatility of being able to play both commercial top 40 music as well as maturing his own sounds of progressive and tough funky house to packed dance floors each week. From his Voodoo Lounge residency, Scott was approached to join The Twenty First Century Dance Club. It was there that he began a new phase in his career by given the reign to develop his own dedicated house music night "Rhythm", including all promotions and DJ selection. This night soon became the talk of the Peninsula as well as gaining significant interest by the Melbourne House DJ set.Scott was instrumental in giving both cultivating his own talent pool of DJ's as well as booking Melbourne based guests, including John Course (ElectroFunkLovers/OneLove/Vicious Vinyl), Grant Smillie (Onelove/TV Rock), Andy Van (Madison Ave/Vandalism/Vicious), Derek K (OneLove), Kaz James (Bodyrockers), Arlen DeSilva (Freakazoid) and Donnie 1 (Freakazoid) giving the locals a viable option to listen to quality club music without having to travel to the city to hear it. To show his versatility, Scott teamed up with Donnie 1 to run "The Sunday Sessions" @ The Bay Hotel in Mornington, showcasing laid back garage and smooth grooves. During this time Scott was also invited to re-join the Voodoo Lounge, making him the first DJ to have simultaneous residencies in the three biggest venues on the Mornington Peninsula.Lately Scott has been the resident at Level 1 (Formally The Voodoo Lounge), and has just completed a 2 year residency at Blitz Nightclub/The Berwick Springs Hotel, playing to 800-1000 people each week as well as helping the club win numerous awards including best new venue (2004) and Best DJ (2005) in the www.maxmoose.com yearly Viewers Choice Awards. Scott was a bi-monthy resident at Future Entertainment's "Electric" @ 21, and is still playing guest spots around town.As well as playing on the Peninsula, Scott has also rocked rooms in Melbourne, playing various guest spots around town including Q Bar, Love Machine, The Loft, Bunker Lounge, Chasers, Megabar, and was invited to play at the Testimonial to John Course and Andy Van (Vicious Vinyl/Madison Avenue) in 2001 at Room680.
