About Me

Paul Ison - BIO
Paul has been DJing since 1996 where he featured heavily through the dance scene in Melbourne, Australia, including resident spots at 21st Century Dance Club, Langy Hotel, Jooce Niteclub and the Rosebud Hotel.
From that point, through to 2003, Paul racked up substantial hours behind the decks of dozens of Victorian hotels and venues, either as resident or special guest, whilst at the same time branching out into promotions and marketing for venues such as Millennium Niteclub and the King’s Creek Hotel.
In 2003, Paul moved to Brisbane, Queensland where he took up three residencies – two at the Embassy Hotel and the Exchange in the city centre and one at the famous Regatta Hotel where he also doubled-up as the entertainment manager for the venue, and other key youth venues in the Coles Myer hotel chain.
Twelve months ago, Paul met Tom Walker at an open decks night at the Embassy. The pair instantly hit it off, with Paul hiring Tom to support at his ‘Euro Flora’ dance parties. Not long after, the pair joined forces together under the name ‘Deckheads’ – a name now recognised throughout South East Queensland.
The team now have a unique understanding when playing together. Both have similar takes on mixing, how to enjoy a set and go with the flow; Tom adds the flair and sampling whilst Paul drives the set. On several occasions they have incorporated percussion and sax for a live feel whilst delivering their brand of mashed up dance, house electro.
Highlights of Paul’s career so far have included his solo set at the Sorrento Beach NYE Party in 1997 where he played a massive set to 35,000 people and had to be evacuated at the end of the party by mounted police when crowds didn’t want him to stop!
Having also supported the likes of ’28 Days’, ‘Area 7’, ‘Seany B’, ‘Andy J aka SGT Slick’ and ‘TV Rock’ in the last few years, Paul describes his style as “two elephants singing opera at 2000 ft below sea level, whilst toasting onions on the radiator of an f100 (private joke).”

• Twisted Everyday Hurts (Blue Amazon Mix) – Skunk Anansie
