HEALING FREQUNCIES
It is midnight at the Los Angeles Orphanage and Johnny Ryker, a good looking, teen-aged asthmatic, is playing guitar for his roommate, Buddy Noles, a younger boy and enthusiastic fan, applauding the end of a song. Both of them are a growing number of throw-a-ways, unwanted youths that have no where else to go on the planet but a sterile institution that will soon be throwing them out on the street.
Suddenly, they hear the jangling of keys coming closer. “Johnny, here comes the Warden, you better quit playing,†cries Buddy just as a balding middle-age man bursts into the room and screams “Johnny Ryker, I thought I told you not to play that guitar late at night.†He grabs the guitar out of Johnny’s hand and throws it into the closet and leaves in a huff.
“Better not upset the Warden or there will be no TV all week,†pleads Buddy. But the rebellious Ryker just goes into the closet and starts spontaneously singing a song that no one is going to stop his dreams and they both laugh as the lights go out for the night.
In the middle of the night, Johnny can’t sleep and is in the closet playing quietly when he sees the Warden sneaking into the room and start to molest little Buddy. Johnny is shocked by this and accidentally drops the guitar, and with his pants down, the Warden opens the closet door, to Johnny bashing the guitar into the Warden’s face and after a long chase in the institution, escapes into the night.
Johnny finds himself in skid row and he wonders around until morning when he finds a man with a guitar waiting in a really long line. He goes into the line and finds that he can get breakfast and some supplies by the man with the guitar. “Hey kid, you new?†Johnny nods in the affirmative. “Well you can come to my camp and I’ll show you the ropes. My name is Three String†and they shake hands and Johnny has a much needed new friend.
Three String’s “camp†is just a piece of sidewalk that he’s put his junk on, but has a tent and friends so it’s good enough for now. Three String starts to play his three string guitar for passer-bys and in no time has a bundle of bills. “Now I can get high,†he declares. Three String buys some dope to ease his pain. Johnny’s invited to spend the night and does.
In the middle of the night an angel visits him in his dreams and sings a beautiful song to him to never deny the song within. This convinces Johnny that this is his purpose in life - to write songs that will not only heal him - but heal anyone that listens to them.
The next morning Johnny wakes up thinking maybe Three String will let him use his guitar so he can make some money when he realizes Three String died in his sleep. His friend “Wheelchair†a noisy Vietnam Vet, cries over the loss of his friend. But Johnny’s nervous that the police are going to send him back to the institution and is ready to leave when Wheelchair tells him to give back the guitar to Three String’s brother, who made the “Deckland Guitar – Venice†as the label reads inside the guitar.
Johnny goes to Venice Beach looking for Three String’s brother landing on the Boardwalk of the beach seeing all these buskers making a living. He now knows how he’ll survive. He finds his brother’s guitar shop and Deckland offers him a job. He gladly takes it and realizes this man is a very enlightened person. After he tells him about his father throwing him into the street and all the pain and abuse he’s gone threw, Deckland says to him, “Break the identification with the pain from your past and it will no longer control your thinking in this moment.†Johnny goes to the boardwalk and writes a song called “This Moment†for an imaginary girlfriend.
He plays this song on the boardwalk when a young girl named Angela listens and tells him after he’s finished with it that he should enter the song into a contest that she herself has entered. After some resistance on his part, she convinces him by telling him the first prize is Elvis’s Pink Cadillac. She then takes him to her van where she’s living and plays a song for him, which turns out to be the same song the angel sang to him. Now he knows that Angela is his angel come to life.
Angela finds out that Johnny’s dad, Jack, is in jail on drug charges and is getting out that week. “I’d like to go meet him,†she says. “Why?†Johnny asks. “Because you need to forgive him,†This made sense according to his new mission.
They go visit his dad who at first is wondering what is going on with his wild son he never knew and this girl. Finally, he becomes convinced of Johnny’s sincerity to get to know his dad but as he’s a former musician with the one-hit wonder song “Incense and Peppermints,†Jack doesn’t want him to go in the music business. “They ripped me off blind and they’ll do it to you too Johnny.†But Angela defends him and they agree to join him when he’s released from jail.
Meanwhile, the Warden, and two policemen are looking for Johnny. They find him on the boardwalk and a chase ensues, but Johnny gets away. “You better find that kid or our whole operation at the orphanage will be exposed†demands the Warden to the police officers.
Angela sees Johnny’s in trouble but isn’t scared. Instead she hides him in her van and tries to love him as best as she can. But it’s too late; the police find him, arrest him and throw him back to the orphanage.
That night the Warden comes into Johnny’s bedroom and is about to rape him too when the police come from behind the door and says “this is the last time your going to abuse anymore homeless kids, Warden†and hauled him off to jail.
When Johnny gets back to Venice, his dad is out of jail and offers him and Angela a place to live. This makes Johnny so happy he writes a song called “Healing Frequencies†that wins the contest. The last thing we see is Johnny and Angela in the Pink Cadillac convertible riding into the horizon of the setting sun.
With a passion to succeed Miraj doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. He has numerous projects that he's currently working on from acting, dancing, singing, to modeling - Miraj seems to be knocking down doors!
South Florida raised, but a native of Georgia; via is family, Miraj has managed to put a stamp on the industry. His journey began in his elementary days when Miraj took to the stage dancing and singing one of Michael Jackson's songs. It was at that performance Miraj told his grandmother this is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
Miraj's professional career began when he came across his friend Styles who is apart of the camp BlackOut Movement (who produced the 2007 smash hit THIS IS WHY IM HOT by Mims). The two seem to have immediate chemistry and began to work on countless projects. Miraj ended up in New York and began to work with a group Wyclef Jean put together called 40B Low. The group (who was originally from Miami) began to fall apart forcing Wyclef to put the group on hold. This experience helped Miraj to identify what was needed of him if he was to survive this music game.
After many failed attempts, poor management teams, and independent labels Miraj finally found his place in California. After hooking up with his new management team TLR, Miraj seemed to have all types of offers coming his way. Miraj is currently recording his debut album and is also working on other artists' projects. Most recently Miraj can be heard on the MIMS album, where Miraj recorded two songs for the Capitol Records artist. Also, Miraj is in the studio working on different projects with super producer Street Runner (produced Gossip for Lil Wayne). Outside of music Miraj is currently filming a movie called Healing Frequencies directed by Sean Lawlor of the BlockBuster BraveHeart which starred Mel Gibson.
Aforementioned... it doesnt appear Miraj is looking to slow down anytime soon. Be sure to look out for Miraj in different magazines and on the big screen. As a bonafied dancer, choreographer, singer, actor, model, and pianist Miraj will definitely be around for a while.
