Big Ran is history in the making. In the midst of countless 'movements', 'dynasties', and 'empires', this dynamic artist/producer chooses to follow the road less travelled. Born and raised in San Francisco, California where hyphy is the latest craze, Ran made the trek across the country to Atlanta, GA to attend Clark Atlanta University. In true musical genius fashion, he dropped out after his sophomore year only to begin producing tracks for local artists while juggling jobs and struggling to pay bills on time.
Since making the fateful decision to leave school, Big Ran's production talents have not gone unnoticed by the industry as he has produced for multi-platinum artist turned pastor Ma$e, grammy nominated gospel artists Canton Jones and Mr. Del (formerly of 3 6 Mafia), as well as worked on projects for Aftermath (G.A.G.E), and too many others to name.
As an artist, the 6'5" self proclaimed "beast" not only towers over most of his artistic colleagues in stature, but he also displays an offsetting almost intimdating amount of confidence on the microphone. Never afraid to venture outside of the box, Big Ran's topics range from financial security to world travel to relationships and God. What makes his unique is his approach to the music. Through his company A&A WorldWide, Ran is pioneering a new style of hip hop infused with soul, and R&B that he likes to call NuLifeSoul.. NuLifeSoul is urban music in its purest form sans the raunchy, often offensive lyrics that have come to be expected in hip hop and r&b over the past few years.
While Big Ran is in no way a political or social activist, he is definitely about empowering people to do better in life. Each of his songs offer solutions to everyday situations in hopes of being a blessing to others through a medium that we all love: Music.
Ran credits all of his abilities to God and is an outspoken believer in Christ. His faith motivates him daily to push past the limits set by people in order to achieve greatness.
