I was born on a hot summer evening back in those dark ages called the 70'ties, before MP3's and the internet, back when Hip Hop was still something that could be referred to as underground without anybody getting a foul taste in their mouth, and disco was the shit..

My father was a German businessman, sailor and painter, my mother a beautiful blonde who loved Bob Dylan and playing her guitar, which later became the guitar where I learned my first chops on.
They brought me up in a small harbor town on the outskirts of Copenhagen, sailing around alot and they let me play around on the rocky harbor piers all day. When my mother died when I was 6, my father sold his business and took me sailing. It was here that I learnt to express myself in other languages fluently and it's an ability that I will always be grateful for. When I returned to Denmark at the age of 10, I lived with my loving grandmother. Everything was a bit chaotic back then and she made sure that I learned to read and write, appreciate classical music and sweet jazz tunes.
I first got in to guitar because my Gran loved to hear my mother play and since there was already a guitar in the house, she paid for my lessons even though to begin with I hated that shit.

My first serious taste of the big time was when I was 22. I saw a note for a ska band at a music store and for the next 5 years, all I could really focus on was music. The band turned in to Furillo and it changed my life forever. We would play anything and everywhere, just as long as there was beer, a P.A. and people willing to dance. We ended up playing some 150-180 shows in that period and for the first time I felt like I was doing something that truly made me happy. Sometimes we would drive some 700-800 km. just to play some shitty squat in some hellhole in the former DDR for peanuts and gas money, but people danced! Every night I would fall down on whatever mouldy mattress they had supplied us with feeling so complete and satisfied.
We toured constantly, I mean, we played every major city in Germany.. Twice! Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, anything that could be reached within a days drive with whatever van we could get together. Furillo made one album, "Break The Game" on Wolverine Records and we sold 2500 copies out of the trunk without any promotion whatsoever. We sold so many t-shirts that I still run in to people that are wearing one of our tees and I have absolutely no idea who they are.

All the while I was playing in Furillo, these songs would pop up that just wouldn't work as a part of a Furillo set. I had been into computers for years, so I downloaded some cracked software, bought a 35,- piece of shit microphone at a computer store and went to work recording these weird little tunes about a movie I had seen or a girl that broke my heart or just some shit I had experienced on the road or in everyday life. They kept stacking up and eventually ended up on burnt CD's that I would pass out to my friends. It was these songs that would later go on to become "Music For Early Birds & Nighthawks".
When Furillo broke up in april 2004, my world collapsed. At the time, my father was very sick. He never took proper care of himself and it killed him in the end. Within 6 months, my fucking band crashed because there were too many fucking ego's and then my father died at the way too young age of 62.

That was when I joined forces with some friends and made Dub Farlig. Roots dub reggae played with balls and heart, that's what we did and what we still do. You can check out our music at our myspace profile: Myspace.com/DubFarlig .

Some things are so weird that they can only happen in real life, they are just too fucking twisted to be fictional. While attending this unemployment course, I was goofing off on the net one day and I stumbled over some hip hop community news page. Here I read that this cat called Jokeren, probably the most respected danish MC ever, had just gotten a deal with Universal Records that meant that he was getting his own sub-label, American style. It was the first deal of it's kind in Denmark and then there was a link to his new label, called Flamingo Records. I checked his site out and all there was on it, was an email link and a little piece of text telling people to send in their demo MP3's, max. 4 mb.
So I sent him one.
Mostly just to fuck with his head, 'cause there was no chance in hell that this slick dude who had won more grammy's and awards than any other dude in the danish rap game would be interested in some guy with a crappy microphone and shitty software, somewhere out in the North-West side of Copenhagen, singing his campy little trashy love songs to all the punk/drugged out/messed up chicks that left scars on his bleeding heart.

Well.. I was wrong.
Hehehe.. Life is funny sometimes and believe me, I am not done yet.
Much love,
