Shocking Murray was born in Snow Hill Portland, Jamaica. At the age of 7 he started to rap among family and friends. Surprised about this 7 year old boy, the community loved and started to recognize the talent of this boy. At the age of 9, Shocking Murray started to rap for the number one soundsystem, Libratone. Slowly but surely the word started to spread and soon he was noticed and wanted all over the Island. In 1990 Shocking Murray recorded his first single "Drum" at Jack Scorpio Studios in Kingston Jamaica which was released on the "I us" label. In the same year "I us" decided to release two more singles with Shocking Murray titled "Big Chest" and "Gun man Lyrics" together with Daddy Fish. In 1991 Shocking Murray recorded another single, this time with Samantha Rose at Penthouse Studios which was released with success in the U.S.Naturally motivated from the success over in the United States, Shocking Murray took it to the next level! In 1992 he linked up with Michael Rose (Black Uhuru), who was very interested in Shocking Murray’s talent. They started recording at the Bussout Studios in Kingston Jamaica.
