The First Daze

Moskova is a stoner rock oriented band from Tampere, Finland. Our biggest value in the local rock scene at the moment is probably our reputation as a vicious live act. Our show constructs on low frequencies and unusual melodies, spontaneous physical movement and blues-like groove. We don´t see ourselves as the most original band in the world or anything like that just to make people look up to us, simply because there is way too much great stuff we don´t know about. Still, at the same time we don´t obey any laws of any scene, or claim that ALL the others would. We do our stuff in our chosen ignorance of the cool. We look up to many different bands that have made their way through the media with the tools of devoted hard work, some musical innovation and the tendency to rock.

Moskova was founded in 2004 by drummer Antti Timonen and guitar player Ilmari Huttu-Hiltunen. Ilmari had already made the first Moskova song, which was named later as Moskova. Their common goal was just to play hard rock. After some time the guitar player Juha Luukkonen joined in. A few months after playing as a trio and after rehearsing the first ever Moskova tune, their rehearsal room mate Marko Syrj..l..inen heard it, couldn´t forget the energy in it and offered himself several times to play the bass ( which he had never done before ). Marko had done some jamming sessions earlier with the singer Joonas Jokiranta, and knowing his strengths in singing it seemed the only right solution to ask Joonas to sing for Moskova.

Our first year of existence as a quintet was about having fun and playing hard rock with lots of emotion and not caring too much about the quality of the performance. The second year of the creature was about truly finding our own ways of expression, finding the links between the interests of the band members through practicing and making a completely new set of songs. Now, at the beginning of our third year we are having fun, playing hard rock with loads of emotion and have found the links between the members to make music everyone of us can devote to.

Our future as a band seems good. We are making an album which is to be released in July and our live show with Spank My Jones ( Northern Passouts, Bastards On The Loose ) is touring Europe in August. We are strongly under the belief that this is only the beginning for us as a band and a great journey through time and space.
