About Me

The Hellgrammites have existed since 1997, following a couple years of stumbling along the band decided to play sprightly tunes about senseless topics like TV commercials. An expanded repertoire of goofy songs heavily influenced by late 70s punk rock naturally led to the desire to put out a CD. A couple of years ago a full length CD aptly entitled The Hellgrammites was released. It contains a bunch of catchy numbers like Not So Fresh, Throwin It, and My Teacher (is a fat lesbian). Our second CD is in the works, with about a dozen songs already in the can. look forward to its release in the spring/summer time frame. The band tries to play out 1-2 times per month. This sometimes happens in Baltimore, but we try to play closer to home in more western parts of Maryland. Check out The Hellgrammites if you are a fan of first generation punk rock and like an unpretentious band that has fun playing hard and long ago lost delusions of grandeur.

Influences: All rock and punk rock heroes. A couple of us worship the Clash like a 7th grade boy wants Brittany with hair, and much to Adam's disappointment, Sam listens to enormous amounts of reggae. Mike just rocks.
Sounds Like: ...quick tempo rock and roll and early punk with a dash of surf. The band does not sound like current pop punk or pseudo hardcore screamer rock. Sometimes we sound a bit like bands such as Ramones, Dickies, Devo, Sex Pistols etc. with a touch of Rolling Stones and The Police thrown in.
