At only seven tracks, covering 25 minutes of music, Solitude is also the perfect remedy for those who are turned off by the often gratuitous nature that many metal bands take with their recordings. GUNMETAL GREY benefit greatly from having a recording that sounds lively and clean, accentuating well-placed double-bass rolls, and of course, those blazin' guitar leads (think ARCH ENEMY meets early METALLICA). The last track to this disc is a smashin' cover of the CRO-MAGS tune "Life On My Own," and it's a fitting touch of crossover, and a nod to the influence of metal among hardcore fans far before it became commonplace. This is the best thing Indianola has put out in quite some time.
