About Me

*Note: All recordings on this page were done with a camcorder at random jamming sessions. The band is in the process of recording their album, so proper ones will be up soon.
A Butterfly Caught was formed in mid 2003. The band started off as one of the first in Singapore to play industrial math-metal, influenced by the likes of The Deftones, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Tool. Off-timing beats, sonic soundscapes, extreme riffage and industrial electronic effects were all part of the band's signature sound, and also recorded a full track that was featured in the Unity Of Aggression Compilation album.
As time went by, the band decided that they wanted a sound that was even more vastly different from other local bands that were typically found in the local scene.
During early 2006, the band faced major issues this led to lineup changes. Ex vocalist AL decided to leave the band due to personal issues with the band's idealogy.
Vocalist Anastasia took over the microphone and now A Butterfly Caught is back with the new sound that they wanted. One that's been reinvented and is pretty innovative, combining modern post-rock/indie with industrial and electronica elements.
They now play deep melodies laced with atmospheric and soothing nostalgic vocals, and complemented by electronic drums and inventive sound effects.
Current influences include Bjork, Portishead, Mazzy Star, Emiliana Torrini, The Mars Volta, Tool, Radiohead, The Gathering, Massive Attack, Shora, Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy, The Deftones, Placebo, Explosions In The Sky, Sonic Youth, Tori Amos, The Gathering, Rhys Fulber, Mogwai and many more.

Sounds Like: The perfect melody in your headphones on a solitary bus ride on a rainy evening as twilight is fading, with your knees propped up in front of you as the scenery flashes by and the diamonds in Night's black velvet negligee start appearing for wishes to be made upon.
