Ladi Royce

She taps her feet in the river of soap during her showers singing her favourite songs as the spray trickles down her trim body.Water is essential to life as is music. And it was something as simple as a battery operated radio boat given to her from her dad when she was five which set her sail upon the waters of music. DJ Royce is building her fast moving career and gathering a strong fan base along the way which is diverse considering how long it takes a new DJs to develop themselves. Royce began playing at Mocha opening for JAYFORCE. She’s played at Kabin with Evil P and J-Prez as well as Sugar. She played with fiancé J-Prez for their “I DO SATURDAYS” at Toronto’s Film Lounge also with JAYFORCE and Toronto local favourite, DJ Aadil. Now she hold residencies at Butterfly Ballroom, Autogrill, Vogue Bar & PUR. Just like her name states, she likes to spin a bit off Electro incorporating hard-driving basslines, and a little Progressive. This is what she started with when she first hit the decks; of course Royce wouldn’t be Royce without some good Tribal. After being re-introduced to the House scene by J-Prez and after the rave days her Canadian influences are Paranoid Jack and Deko-ze. From crumbling warehouses, to posh clubs filled with silicone and lipstick DJ Royce found her foundation to build her house on. First the DJ booth, then discovering all the goodies; pitch control, bass, treble, and or course the art of programming and the gift of the mix! On being a DJ Royce says, “I can honestly say, I think either you have it or you don’t. Spinning comes from internal rhythm naturally present inside you.” With her intense love of music and creativity it developed within her from days gone by. Learning to play every instrument in grade school music class, to playing the bass guitar in her high school band, then came the infamous rave days.
