DJ Johnny Aftershock is a legend in the Los Angeles Latin Urban Night Club & Rave Scene. He has been a professional DJ for over 15 years, beginning in the summer of 88'.
He started out as a mobile DJ in the City of Compton (born and raised), from there He ventured into the 1990's urban Latin Rave scene spinning everywhere from small rusty wherehouses in L.A. to massive Rave events across the Country.
Throughout the 90's he dominated the Rave scene by playing his eclectic mix of Nu-Wave Flashbacks. While growing up in the 80's he listened to this "nu" music played by Richard Blade, The Poorman, Rodney on the Rok, all on The World Famous 106.7 K.R.O.Q., the hottest alt rock and new wave radio station of it's era in Los Angeles.
He then moved into the Latin Urban Nightclub scene around 1994 and played at just about every hot club in L.A., O.C., & around the Country under the DJ name "Johnny Aftershock", why the name? It was suggested by fellow dj Mr. Flashback because he considered 80's music's impact as strong as an earthquake that shook the the world, and each time an 80's set was played it was like an aftershock from the big one, the big one being the 80's..and the name was pretty catchy as well..:) Johnny Aftershock's specialty is spinning "80's-Nu-Wave-Classic-Flashbacks"....(but being from Compton, he was also a Hip-Hop purist)
He is on the top of every party promoters list as the best alternative 80's music DJ in the business... Many "new jack" 80's dj's came into the picture and have tried to copy his style, but very few managed to endure the mixing rigors of the LA nightclub scene...you have to be damn good to spin this music!!! Many of them were never heard from again
Not only was Johnny Aftershock the 1st DJ to break in "80's" music at a Rave, He was the 1st DJ to blend-mix the music continuously and non-stop!! Just ask any DJ, and this is no easy feat!.... This requires massive amounts of mixing, beat-matching and blending skills!!
His new mix CD "NU-WAVE 101 Volume 1 & 2" was created in his home studio using the most sophisticated software available to bring you the tightest mixes and the best sound. This mix took weeks to produce, mix and edit. He used complex multi-tracking techniques that required hours of studio time needed to compose, re-master, perform and perfect these mixes, and you will not be dissapointed!
He did not use the traditional "two turntables, a mixer, and old-scratchy-poppy-vinyl-records" as most DJ's do, he took it to the next level!!!! So grab a copy, listen, and Enjoy!
