JAN TORE "KITO" ERIKSEN

I`ve been an active member in bands and have played different configurations of music all my life.I've been a (lead)singer and bassplayer for about 15 years. Plays:6 strings electric Bass,4-strings fretlessbass,doublebass,acoustic guitar,Dobro and harmonica.-------------------------------------------------- --- ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------- I started out playing trumpet at the age of 10. Began to play Bass in a band at 12. I played heavyrock a few years and established a band at age 16-17 with drummer Jan Ånnerød and Tor Erik Myhre called "NORTHWIND".It's written down in Skien`s local historybooks (he-he). I got lost for a while, serving the navy.That was the point of my life I understood I had to do something with my musical talent ....The story: I joined the musictroop at the recruitschool in Stavanger.At the afternoon the second day, the captain/conductor ordered me up to his appartement.I didn't understand anything at first,but he was accidentally a very good friend of my conductor Lauritsen, back in Brevik.And he was at least double as thirsty as him too.But anyhow.. after a few days, I understood those two buddies allready had figured my future out.Every afternoon when our troop was finished training,the MP came and ordered me to follow with them.. to the officers block. The captain drank cognac,and only cognac,and he did not like to drink alone. That was what he said at first... well..I'll make it short. After nearly 3 weeks of hard drinking,he finally told me the plans he´d included me in. I was picked to be the next conductor(Quartermaster) of the musictroop at Flesland - Bergen. Suddenly the rest of my serving time seemed to be a little more than I had in mind. Well ,the hole thing ended badly a short time later on. After thinking it over, I went to a shrink, and flagged the first train home. I got rid of the uniform and the prospected possision of being babysitting 50 hornblowers....but later on ,I was thinking about the trust the captain had given me. That changed my self-esteem forever.... ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------- Well,my friends, I should have done what he said...but then my friend STEPHEN ACKLES ,showed up and said he was short of bassplayers.He had altso halfway finished his first record in studio. It turned out to be some fine years comming up. The excellent guitarplayer OLE BJØRN BERGE and me began to be enthusiastic to texasblues when hearing STEVIE RAY VAUGHN for the first time..He had the same taste of music that I had, and we created BERGE & ERIKSEN BLUESBAND.Later on a drummer; ANDRE ELLEFSEN and a hammondplayer; TOR ARNE LANGELAND came along and completed the band, and BLUESFACTORY was a reality. After a while we got a new drummer ,KJELL BORHNHORST.The band changed name to URBAN HONK and has been called that ever since. We play spontaniously,improvising music and the songs ends quite often in the land of nowhere...This band is a place for the musicians to embraze real passion for music. If we get bored of playing other peoples material to much, we just arrange a gig with Urban Honk,and we´re fit for fight again. I played with HEIDI HAUGE BAND a long period,and believe me all of you people...I was glad I had URBAN HONK back home after working for her some weeks. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------- Other artists I've played with,or still are playing with:LINDA GAIL LEWIS (Jerry Lee's sister), GILLIE & THE CREW,TEXAS TWISTER,STEPHEN ACKLES & THE MEMPHIS NEWS,VIDAR BUSK,PÅL FLÅTA,NEIL WILDE & The Rockers,GUTTORM GUTTORMSEN,DANIEL ERIKSEN & Pzydecho Sisters,KIRSTI CARR,JOHN PETER & His Collaborators,TROND YTTERBØE (NBB),ROY ROGERS,HANS GROSSVOLD,ERLAND DALEN,PAAL JENSEN,KNUT HEM,and many ,many more. I live 200 meters distance from Wrightegaarden - Langesund and has been a part of the musical environment there,and that itselfe has been alive and kickin' for more than 20 years now.-------------------------------------- My biggest passion in life are my beautyful daughter MAYA (5) born 04.03.02. LOVE YOU more than life,my sweet princess.---------------------------- I use my computer-based studio making demoes and stuff when nothing else to do. Intel CPU 2,8Ghz 1024Mb RAM + External 24bit soundcard with 4 stereo in/out. That´s what I use these days. All the songs you folks can listen to on myspace are sung by me . All of the song's played and programmed by me ,except electric guitars by Ole Bjørn Berge.
