About Me

"Screw Normal. If you're normal, yes, the crowd will accept you; but if you're deranged, the crowd will make you their leader."---Christopher Titus
Kirsten hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a city where everyone, regardless of their knowledge of the English language, will attempt to ask you for a quarter at the most inopportune times. Her neverending quest to find people who don't suck has thus far ben fruitless, and she continues to brave the wild of the concrete jungle on her search for people who know how to properly use a semicolon. Despite her penchant for various caffeinated beverages and the occasional beer, Kirsten has the ability to be more elusive than bigfoot.
I sing in a band, write horror stories, and watch movies. I have problem with sarcasm and/or smart-assedness, which is sometimes misconstrued as a sense of humor. I have a sick passion for Halloween, John Cusack movies, zombies, and men that read books. I like to spend time in museums because they remind me that the world doesn't suck as much as it seem sometimes.
What more could you ask for in a person?

My Interests

Books, lots and lots of books, singing, making music, literature, writing, horror movies, Hallowen (yay!), reading, psychology, sociology, philosophy, photography, art, asian horror movies, really good movies in general...

I'd like to meet:

People. People who don't suck. People who aren't drama-inducing maniacs that live to suck my soul out of my body.

People that can intelligently discuss music without bringing in scene politics and/or stupid ideas about what's "cool."
People that read books, because those are my favorite kind of people.
People that like Haunted Houses and my infamous zombie nurse costume.

Music:

Jakalope, Acumen Nation, Nine Inch Nails, Octavia Sperati, The Gathering, Angelspit, A Perfect Circle, Gnarls Barkley, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Amy Winehouse, Kanye West, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Ayria, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, The Birthday Massacre, Ministry, Kidneythieves, Ego likeness, KMFDM, Collide, Chemlab, Poe, Slick Idiot, Devotchka, Stabbing Westward, Filter, various other genres and artists that are too plentiful to name. And, of course, Wreckcreation, the best band in the world.

Movies:

KIRSTEN LIKES:
Tim Burton
Alfred Hitchcock
Stanley Kubrick
Quentin Tarantine
David Lynch
Terry Gilliam
Todd Solondz

Stay, The Weatherman, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Pulp Fiction, High Fidelity (I have a sick passion for John Cusack movies), American Beauty, Edward Scissorhands, Company of Wolves, Night of the Living Dead, Return of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead, Land of the Dead, probably anything with "dead" in the title, White Zombie, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, Dr. Strangelove, The 39 Steps, Frenzy, North by Northwest, The City of Lost Children, Session Nine, The St. Francisville Experiment for memories' sake), Ginger Snaps, The Exorcist, Lost Highway, Eraserhead, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Pan's Labyrinth, The Devil's Backbone, Rear Window, Mr. Sardonicus

Television:

It changes. But I have this sick, undying passion for The Girls Next Door. I feel so dirty...

Books:

Lots and lots of books. Seriously. You should see my room...
Anything by Richard Matheson, "Hitchcock/Truffaut," "October Dreams," an awesome Halloween anthology, "World War Z" by Max Brooks, "House of Leaves," by Mark Z. Danielewski, "I Am Not Myself These Days" by Josh Kilmer-Purcell, "Death Makes a Holiday" by David J. Skal, "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov, "Perfume" by Patrick Suskind, "Invisible Monsters" by Chuck Palahniuk, Anything by Ambrose Bierce, because he's sick, and I can relate to that, the "Post Secret" books, Shirley Jackson's short stories... I read lots of memoirs and creepy horror stories, and somtimes I throw some psychology books into the mix.
I can't decide if comic books count as actual "books."

Heroes:

Frozen waffles. They saved my life once.
