She quickly became a soloist and musician (she plays kouitra, lute, derbuka and cajòn). She was 15 when she took part in cultural events, in France and abroad. She continued her studies and obtained an english degree. She also was featured with algerian rap groups. For the promotion of MBS album (Algerian Rap group) in 1998, on the Algerian Radio Station, charmed by her voice, the host proposed to Mona to take part in the station(Alger chaine 3 and radio Bahdja) in order to present musical shows, this gave her the opportunity to meet Barrio Chino.
The group is preparing a homage to Algerian Music hall from the 40's to the 60's. However they didn't have a singer so Mona was introduced them by Farid Toualbi, director of the radio. It all came together suddenly and « Les Orientales » were born. This show charmed everybody (Les Docks des sud in Marseilles, Magador Theatre in Paris,Les Francofolies de la Rochelle,...) during 3 years. Public and Press describe this show as fabulous and Mona's voice as bewintching.
Furthermore, her voice gave her the opportunity to be considered as a veritable discovery and a talented soloist during UNESCO's year of Algeria in France. Now, Mona is again on tour with her friends of Barrio Chino and is working on her next album « Le diwan de Mona » on which she mixes tradition (arabo-andalusian music) and modernity in a variety of musical arrangements (battery, electric guitar)
« Mona and her Diwan have bewintched people with their colorful musical ways.On stage, Mona offers a real charism , she sings very well and she interprets with oud, guitar and derbouka. Surrounded by musicians from a different universe, her voice recalls the andalusian spirit »
