Tru-Paz
To define Tru-Paz is to define what Hip Hop is.
Hip Hop today is the epitome of Pop, the style and the music. Hip hop is also the epitome of street expression. Some view this dichotomy as a paradox, Tru-Paz views it as an opportunity. Akim, Boozy, and DJ Unknown are looking to bring up-tempo, energizing music with a conscious message into the ears of the people. Blending the good feelings of club music, with the uplifting vibes of positive messages, Tru-Paz hopes to deliver a universal brand of Hip Hop.
The group is composed of three core members: Akim, Boozy and DJ Unknown. Akim is the lead MC, delivering sharp and energizing vocals that cut to the heart of any issue that needs to be tackled. His fans have compared him to everyone from Big L to Jay Z.
Boozy is the Yang to Akim's Ying. Where Akim is fierce and aggressive, Boozy is cool and smooth. His sultry blend of harmonious singing and soulful rapping gives Tru-Paz a distinct reggae feel that very few groups possess. With his powerful voice and moving verses, Boozy is the perfect compliment to Akim's raw energy. Anyone that has heard Boozy has compared him to such legends as Tupac, and Bob Marley.
With two solid vocal forces, DJ Unknown provides the glue that binds Tru-Paz together. With production that ranges from choppy samples over hard drums, to soulful electronic grooves over jazzy rhythmic drum loops. Unknown weaves melodies that both move the listener, as well as compliment Akim and Boozy's flows. As a producer, DJ Unknown has been compared stylistically to DJ Premier and DJ Pete Rock.
Together, these three artists represent one goal. Together, they aspire to unite the fragmented Hip Hop community into one unstoppable force.
The Tru-Paz vision is to inspire everyone, from the Backpack kids who study Hip Hop history, to the club kids who bang bass heavy beats in their ride. From the average Pop listener, to the most intense music critic, the Tru-Paz aim to smash the boundaries that divide Hip Hop. To take Hip Hop to where it was meant to be, to be a universal voice for the positive upliftment of all people, regardless of their differences.

Fantom Of The Beats
Opening the door for Staten Island hip-hop, Carlos Evans started his music career as Haas G as part of the hip-hop duo UMC’s. In the early 90’s UMC’s won acclaim for their first single “Blue cheese.†Soon after, the second single, “One to Grow on†became Billboard’s 1 rap single. Fantom produced songs on both UMC’s albums “Fruits of Nature†and “Unleashed.â€His production credits, through Fantom of the Beat, span many artists in the hip-hop world and include Ghostface Killah’s “Apollo Kids†track from the “Supreme Clientele†album. This song helped turn Ghostface’s solo career around, with critics calling it his “street credible resurrection song.â€
Music, according to Fantom is the universal language. He credits his exposure throughout his life to a variety of genres in his success as a producer.
Fantom’s credentials also include “Magic Stick†which he produced for 50 Cent and L’il Kim. Upon its release, this track was one of the most played songs in crossover urban markets and reached the 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
In addition, he produced “Take it Off†for Busta Rhymes on the “E.L.E†album which is widely considered Busta’s best effort for its sequencing and quality material.
Fantom continues to stretch his production talents –to include his trademark style combining elements of the late ‘60’s and ‘70’s creating the sounds which represent the struggle and the voice of the inner city. He takes his life experiences and applies them to music – creating sounds that, in essence, are capable of moving people to take action.
“Music is a substantial part of my life; it’s how I express my fears, my sadness and happiness, my everything. My music is raw emotion,†Fantom says. “The passion I feel for music shows through in everything I create,†he adds.
In the music industry, everyone has a role model and Fantom is no exception. “Strong role models in the industry, for me, include Quincy Jones, Paul Mauriat and Willie Mitchell.â€
