About Me

For many people Techno is a selective flush that can be over after only one night. For Benno Blome Techno is a lifelong love. In this DJ, musician and label-head, almost 20 years of Techno history materializes. DJ Benno Blome brings a very special severity and deepness behind the decks that are beyond comparison even in the night metropolis Berlin: hardly anyone defines Techno like him in this city. His sets promise nothing they can't keep: they don't scream at the crowd, in fact they have a magnetic effect nobody can elude. Insistence, calmness, understatement and concentration are the qualities that represent Blome's sets, productions and his A&R work for his label Sender Records. Sender parties have become a reference for a contemporary as well as timeless Techno sound between New York and Moscow. Blome either appears as part of the outstandingly positioned Sender posse, with artists such as Misc, Bloody Mary, Pan/Tone, Jens Bond, k.lakizz - or as a single headliner, as he develops his sound especially well in long sets. In 1999 with the foundation of his label Sender he created a prototype that has spread far nowadays: labels defined by a special music style, surrounded by a closely drawn, highly productive network around a manageable, though open clique of producers. In times of stylistic micro-ramifications it is important to define a centre. On his label Blome follows this intuition with an unmatched energy. With every release the Sender sound is enhanced more and more. At the same time every record unlocks new sound ranges. As specific as the label-style may be, the excitement arises from the opposite: as still Sender tracks bypass every cliché. Since the millenium Blome is active as a producer. At first he produced a series of influential records with Matthias Klein as weltZwei and with Peter Grummich as Blome & Grummich. After his first two solo releases "Satellite City" and "Transmitter/Blau" in 2005, two cooperations with production legends came out in 2006: Blome created releases with Baby Ford ("Smoke Machine") and A Guy Called Gerald ("Time to Jak"). In these tracks an emotional deepness was unleashed: once again the special, Sender-typical tension emerged from contrasts. In spring 2007 he appeared in the Groove charts Top 20 with two releases - "Tentacular", recorded together with Jens Bond, which took 6th place. In 2007 we can count on another boost of Blome as an artist. An EP on Sender called "Braitbendnoodels", as well as diverse remixes and guest releases are already in the pipeline.
