Influences: ---Ideal-My influences are a wide variety of musicians. First off, Nas,Biggie,Jay-Z,Tupac,Big L,Outkast,Mos Def and Kweli,NWA,Eminem,Dre,early Snoop,Mudkids,Twista,Do Or Die, the list goes on and on. All of the MCs had a profound influence on me and the way I write songs. Once I met the othe cats in our group, they opened my eyes to a lot of different genres outside of just hiphop. They turned me on to Bob Marley,Sublime,Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty, Steve Miller Band, Jimi Hendrix,Stevie ray Vaughn, ect. I pump all types of shit. Most recently Ive been gettin deep into Kanye and Lupe Fiasco, those are two of the illest dudes out right now. But Ive been influenced by music as a whole, not neccessarily one type of music or artist, but a combination of all the different songs and albums Ive come to love over the years.
---The Kid Calamity- My influences have to start from the roots of the whole operation. Bob Marley, for me him breaking it down constantly with mellow tunes and peaceful lyrics was always the proper mind state for any music from Hip Hop to jam bands. Then you got Sublime one the best bands to come out of California. They cover everything from Hip Hop to Punk rock, to Reggae to smooth acustics huge influence on the Kid. The first underground I ever sailed my ears to was the Mudkids from Indy and I was hooked by the sound, been bumpn' for years now. Followed shortly by Del the funky homosapien, and cats such as Gift of Gab, Lateef the True Speaker, Lyrics Born, The Hiero crew, Living Legends, Talib, Mos Def and the list goes on as far as Underground. You could say Gabs the illest in my book hella original and pure funk. As far as Mainsream goes I can jive on some Nas, and some Jay-Z, Kanye, and Outkast. For the cats RIP Props to Biggie, Tupac, and the illest to ever bust a freeflow Big L. Some of newest influences would have to be my boys the Midwest Hype they've got a new sound that anyone can dig keep jammn' boys. Last but first is God who gave us our ability to do what we do. Props to all are homies for showing support PEACE!
---MC Free-The biggest musical influence in my life was probably my pops. When I was little, we would jam loud as hell with the best of them. From Stevie Miller Band, Petty, Floyd, to the greatest in blues like B.B. King, Eric Clapton, and Gary Moore. Can't forget Stevie Ray Vaughn. When it comes to hip hop, I listen to and love it all. Kid broke it down pretty well in his paragraph. I would have to say that Gift of Gab and Mudkids have the biggest impact on me when it comes to hip hop. Talib Kweli is ill as hell too, sick live. Me and my dudes use to roll around bangin' Do or Die and Twista back in the day. We would bust flows to it and shit. I dig all of Quannum and the Legends, that's all good shit. Before school, we used to smoke out and jam Blazing Arrow, or some other tight Gab. It was real inspiring in the morning time. Bottom line, I listen to the best and was influenced by the greatest.
Sounds Like: Pure fuckin hiphop. Raw, real, funky hiphop.
