About Me

Tinge of Tangerine is Dawn Boudreau's first CD recording. In April of 2005, Dawn decided to do a live recording performance to use as a base for a CD. Moses Kostamo of Moko Productions was the best man for such a job. After about 10 months of studio musicians and overdubbing, Tinge of Tangerine was the result, 12 original compositions of a blend of jazz and folk in an easy listening style.
Teaching singers at B&B Music Studio enables Boudreau to share her love of music, while singing Prince George venues like Café Voltaire , The Waddling Duck , and Kizmet Café, give her an outlet for her own music and her other love, jazz standards. The influence of Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell and the inspiration of her loving partner, Shawn Petriw, and her three children, keep her writing and loving the experiences life brings.
Between 2003 and the present, Boudreau's songs have become a story that unravels before her audience. Each song is a piece of her soul, therapeutic in its conception and performance.
Her grandma taught her to play chords and scales on the piano at age 10. Boudreau is daily thankful for this approach to music, a vehicle that provides a foundation for the melodies and emotions in her heart. She began composing songs shortly after that time, sometimes on the church piano, sometimes on the guitar she shared with her sister.
Her mother played guitar and sang and wrote folk and christian music and recorded a tape of originals and other peaceful tunes when Dawn was in her teens.
People would say, "You have guitar fingers, just like your mother!"
Dawn would respond, "Piano fingers."
In her early twenties, she finally began to develop this skill after obtaining a piano for her home. She took piano lessons and began writing more songs than ever. Through experience and performing, Boudreau has evolved into the musician she is today. She is looking forward to all the adventures yet to come.
She presently entertains dinner crowds with jazz and other mellow music at the downtown Prince George restaurant, The Waddling Duck , along with pianist David Sproule and in alternaton with vocalist Maureen Washington .Visit tingeoftangerine.com for more information or to order the CD, Tinge of Tangerine.
