This award-winning Soul Singa started her musical journey with studies in classical piano, leading her onto the path of music. Marshall became a soloist in her church by age seven, while participating in national competitions in both music and poetry.In the early 70s, Muzz partnered with co-writer, Coleman Howe. Joining forces, the two gained momentum, replacing covers with much of their original works while performing on the Montreal and Quebec club circuits with their band Yours Truly. Muzz received invitations to perform with world-renowned artists such as Ron Winans of the gospel group the Winans as well as Dizzie Gillispie at Montreal jazz haven, the Rising Sun. Since that time, Muzz has shared the stage Martha Reeves (Martha & the Vandellas), Mavis Staples (Staple Singers), and has appeared on recordings with Rita McNeil, Lorraine Klaasen, Ian Janes and Omar Hakin (Sting drummer). More recently Muzz and Kathy Sledge performed at Marquee Club in HalifaxAs a Maritime favorite and a master at her craft, this soul diva performs in concert on the east coast music scene with her 8-piece, Halifax-based band Atlantic Soul.In 2003, Muzz was appointed to the Board of Directors of the African Nova Scotia Music Association (ANSMA), and later that year, her expertise was called upon to participate as a juror for MIANS 2003 National Songwriters Competition. In 2004, Muzz also served as a juror for the Canadian JUNO Awards. That same year, co-writer, Coleman Howe, was the recipient of the ANSMA Pioneer Award for his contribution to the development and preservation of music in Nova Scotia.
