About Me

Since the young age of 3 years old, Kevian Bateman, "KB", has been displaying his god-given gift of song. At that early age he was belting out Tina Turner, Patti LaBelle, and Al Green tunes. People from all around the neighborhood would love to come and here this child prodigy sing. He was brought up in a small town in Georgia where he attended a baptist church. He sang with his church youth and adult choir.
At the age of 12, he began singing with an acapella gospel group consisting of 5 guys including himself called Step By Step. The group was well known in south Georgia for their traditional quartet acapella style of singing, patterning themselves after such groups as the Five Blind Boys, Dixie Hummingbirds and the Fairfield Four, just to name a few. KB was the youngest of the five guys being 9 years younger than the youngest member. This wowed audiences being that such a young child was capable of acquiring melodious harmonies without music such as the group was known for. For five years KB sang with the group developing an impecable ear for harmonies.
By the age of 17, he began singing with an R&B group of 3 guys called One Luv. The group was a big hit in the south winning local talent shows as well as having appeared on Showtime At the Apollo. After opening a show for R&B artists 112 and Total at the Atrium in Decatur, GA, the group was approached by rapper Father MC, and at the age of 19, KB and the group One Luv landed a recording contract with Capitol Records. The label moved the group from south Georgia to Atlanta, Georgia. Unfortunately due to contractual differences, the deal fell through. The group then split apart. But eager, determined, and focused, KB continued his long journey on the music path in Atlanta, GA. The path was extremely hard and discouraging from having no place to go, no money, no food, to sleeping outside in the cold, walking around all night juss to fall asleep, to jail. But through all of the turmoil, KB still managed to keep his focus on music.
Now at the age of 25, KB can look back and be proud of the accomplishments he has made thus far. He has been priviledged to sing background for several different R&B and Gospel artists such as Kelly Price, Yolanda Adams, Darwin Hobbs, B.Chase Williams, Karen Clark-Sheard, Sha Simpson, Dave Hollister, Kim Burrell, Ted & Sheri, Fred Hammond, Avant, Chaka Kahn and Ginuwine, just to name a few. He was also blessed to be a part of two major motion films, "The Gospel", and Tyler Perry's "Madea's Family Reunion." KB appeared singing in scenes in both films as well as having contributed background vocals to both movie soundtracks. Currently KB is singing background for gospel artist Darwin Hobbs as well as gigging with R&B soul singer and good friend Keisha Jackson who is the daughter of acclaimed Soul singer Millie Jackson. He is also a part of One Voice Entertainment which is owned by Keisha Jackson as well. KB is also working on an album with B.Chase Williams and Shabach (the creators of the hit gospel tune "Take A Trip" in which he is a part of) which will be the third release from the group. The album is entitled "RELEASED" on the World Wide Gospel label and will be on the market in Fall 2007. The first single off the project will hit the market around late August or early September of 2006. Also he is working on his own music which will hopefully soon open even more doors for this talented young artist. Even though he is not where he wants to be at this point or is not a well known star or celebrity, he is extremely humbled and grateful for the accomplishments he has acheived up to this point. Having said that, the journey continues as KB keeps pressing forward, with the grace of God, through the music industry and his career.
