Maurice Downing, born January 25 to Ms. Angel Downing and Mr. Derrick Spillman in Bartow, FL, birthed with purpose, born by favor. At an early age Maurice's musical influences began to grow. His late great-grandfather, the late Deacon L.V. Downing, Sr. saw Maurice playing on a toy piano one day and declared that Maurice would be somebody's preacher and musician! Maurice learned to play the piano through the unction and gifting of the Holy Spirit at age 4 on the porch of his great-grandparents home in Haines City, FL, no lessons, no books, just pure anointing. By this time he captured the hearts of family and local congregations. His family began to know him as "Preacher Man" and the communities began to know him as a great minstrel!From age 4 to age 10 Maurice would now sing in various choirs, play for various events and continue to develop a powerful anointing. With approaching his teenage years Maurice's gifting began to move him into other arenas and later in his teenage years he flourished into an accomplished ministrel, singer and songwriter. Throughout his grade school career, his love for music grew daily. He joined his middle school orchestra and developed a new love for the string bass. With this new found skill he was accepted to the prominent Harrison School for the Visual and Performing Arts at Lakeland High School. During his matriculation he majored in Orchestra with a concentration in Electronic Music and Vocal Performance. He was also third chair bassist for the "renown" Harrison Symphony Orchestra. At commencement, in 2004, he received a full academic scholarship to the school of his choice, along with other grants.Maurice has ministered at countless churches and other civic and social events. His long list of leadership roles include: Minister of Music (10+ years) for the Mt. Pilgrim Free Will Baptist Church under the pastorate of his grandfather, Bishop K.R. Brown, General President of Youth & Young Adult and General Minister of Music of the United American Free Will Baptist Church, Inc., under the leadership of Presiding Bishop Dr. H.J. Rodmon, Lakeland Super Mass Choir, Youth Director to the Polk County High Schools Gospel Choir, Assistant Director of the National Choir of the National Convention of Free Will Baptists, U.S.A., former string bassist & tenor in the "renown" Bethune-Cookman College Concert Chorale, under the leadership of the Dr. Rebecca Walker Steele, former Assistant Praise & Worship leader and Assistant Director at Calvary Chrisitan Center under the leadership of Music Pastor Trent Cory and Pastor Jim Raley; all while serving and helping many other ministries and much, much more. There's no telling where you have seen Maurice, he has been in many arenas impacting the world from his local church to Trinity Music City (TBN) and beyond. He has ministered with artists such as Trent Cory, Donnie McClurkin, Paul S. Morton, opera star Curtis Rayam, Lace Taylor and more.Maurice now currently resides in Daytona Beach, FL where he is currently attending Bethune-Cookman University a premier historically black school where he is studying Music Technology and Business looking to obtain a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He is under the spiritual leadership (member) of VGR Recording Artist, Bishop Derek Triplett and the Hope Fellowship Church of Daytona Beach, FL.Maurice loves GOD and loves God's people. He loves to be in the presence of God and lead the body of Christ into the presence of God. God has blessed Maurice with a ministry for the nation and nation(s). He's called to take the body of Christ to a place of absolute surrender and serenity through song and word. This minister, prophet, levite, worship leader, songwriter, psalmist, and producer, has humbly surrendered himself to the cause of Christ. When asked to explain his steadfast growth in God he would say "My passion for God far out weighs any circumstance or struggle that I face or that could ever block me. Ultimately when you're hungry enough for God He's bound to fill you up overflowing! I, for one, won't settle for anything less than His glory!
