Biography DetonatorThe history of Detonator dates back to the spring of 1998 when guitarist Alex Schaap and drummer Darko Lalic joined forces again, after having played together before in another band. Albert Houwaart (guitars) and Marc LeNoble (guitars/vocals) soon followed and after a few months Ronald Kuijt finally completed the line-up as the band’s bass player.Starting off in a three-guitar line-up the band wrote their first material during1998 and started performing by the end of that year. The first demo ‘Psycho Bitch’ was released in 1999, which was an own recording and contained six songs. Soon after the release the band came to the conclusion that the current line-up wasn’t going to work out for them, so Marc decided to lay down his guitar and concentrate mainly on his vocals.By the end of 1999 the band started making plans for a new demo, but this time they wanted a more professional sound. They decided to book the Harrow Studio in Losser (The Netherlands) for six days of recording and 2 days of mixing during the summer of 2000. This resulted in the release of the mini-cd ‘Trendkiller’ (December 2000) which was produced by Erik de Boer and Harrow Wijering. The album was very well received and had an excellent review in Dutch metal magazine Aardschok (nr 4 April 2001).The year 2001 was the turning point in the band’s history. Marc was suffering from vocal problems due to a bad singing technique and was unable to continue. After a final gig at 013 Tilburg (The Netherlands) Marc left the band. Now without a frontman, the remaining members decided to lay low for a while. In January 2004 the band did a reunion gig at Scum in Katwijk (The Netherlands) at a New Years Eve party. Although it was a huge success, it didn’t lead to anything and the individual members went their separate ways again. Three years later in 2007 the band was asked to do a special performance for the 25th anniversary of Scum, representing the local metal scene of the late nineties. After the first couple of rehearsals the band members felt the chemistry was back. They decided to give it another go, although taking it very slow in the beginning. The gig was again a big success. In 2008 Detonator will celebrate their 10th anniversary. New ideas are currently being worked on and plans are being made for the recording of some old as well as new material. 2008 will be the year that the Detomaniacs will hit the stage again!!!Detonator is:Marc LeNoble Vocals
