About Me

Love me or Leave me: I am nothing more than what I am. My life has been pretty adventurous: been everything from a shoe sales person, to a firefighter, and currently a college teacher, and so; I'm fairly chill about life, and tend to go with the flow. I have a dual citizenship with Canada and the US, and am German too.~~~~
I believe in all religions as having equal value. Spirituality is important to me and I feel there is value in examining both the light and dark natures of the human soul and spend much time contemplating the nature of existence. While I may contemplate the world's underside, it doesn't mean I value poor manners and judgementalism. ~~~~
I am an intensely private person, and a bit more shy than most would suppose, as I am fairly gregarious socially, with a somewhat dry sense of humor. I have a few good friends whom I'm fiercely loyal to. If you want to really know me you'll have to work your way in and gain my trust.~~~~
My general philosophy is that people need to just chill, and get along, and not get all uptight about everything! Life's too short...have fun while you can, and harm none!~~~~

My Interests

Historical photography, Films, Literature, Ebay, Art, Music, and whatever catches my fancy. I also like to write and paint for my own pleasure, listen to music, hang out on cold foggy beaches, and explore the countryside (and yes I like video games!!). I also have an interest in the spicier side of life, as well. Drinks: Good Beer, Peppermint Schnapps, Good wine Food: I've got a "world" stomach...and like to taste new flavors.

I'd like to meet:

I love people from other cultures and lifestyles. I like talking to people about different things, making connections with the world. I like people who live and think outside the box. You can be as weird as you want to be, but use the brains you have.If I could meet anyone in the world today it would be the Dali Lama of Tibet. If I could meet anyone in past it would be Queen Elizabeth I of England.(I'd really like to meet me at 16 and warn myself!)

Music:

I love music, so I am as likely to listen to Enya as Anthrax. I am especially fond of Fado (Amalia and Mariza!), Edith Piaf, and very moody mystical music. Goth/Metal/Industrial are cool too especially Spanish bands like "Blood", Hey trust me you have to listen to the fantastic bands coming out of Spain! Also, like Dance, Electronica, and Ambient Trance: Junkie XL, Scissor Sisters, Stonebridge, Therese, Peeping Tom, Jel, Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Afrika Bambaataa & the Soulsonic Force...and many more. Favorite Mixer: Armand Van Helden. I am an unashamed fan of ABBA! Never Pass by U2, I love Led Zep. as much as I do the Cure, as much as Nickleback, as much as Buddy Guy, and Muddy Waters, as much as Salsa and Latin Jazz, and Fado, Mozart to Coldplay, and everything in the middle.and...whatever catches my ear.

Movies:

I love Vampire Flicks, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Blade Runner, costume dramas, historical movies, and disaster flicks. Swashbucklers and Fantasy Adventures. I also love foreign films, off beat stuff, classics. 400 Blows, The Tin Drum, Indochine, Raise the Red Lantern, Crash, 21 Grams, Mildred Pierce, The Governess, Earth, Fire, Water,..... Documentary fiend!! I love Movies!

Television:

News. CSI is about my only regular show. I like BBC, Discovery channel, National Geographic, News, SciFi, documentaries. I also like to watch the Weather Channel. I probably watch more TV than I should.

Books:

Books and Reading Will Not Give You a Disease! George Elliot is one of my favorite authors, Virginia Woolf, Honoré de Balzac, Victor Hugo, Flannery O'Conner, Sherwood Anderson, Michael Crighton, H.P. Lovecraft, John Saul...it's a big list. I have a degree in Lit. and will happily get into a literary discussion with you. I willingly take suggestions too, so if you have a title you think is a must read...please by all means let me know!

Heroes:

My Oma and Opa-- long departed, but never forgotten.
