About Me

____ Something small happened when Vangel and Dorc met in Toronto; late 98'. A mutual love and dedication for song writing led them to quickly begin collaborating and combining musical talents. Adhering to a not bound by tools approach, their individual production styles developed a signature sound that infused a unique approach to hip hop instrumentation. Since then their releases have received critical acclaim for creating "beats so gloriously fucked, they make EL-P sound like a more accesible Moby ." (Now Magazine- 2004) Music that is, "..paradoxically dark yet catchy";"difficult to find, but definitely worth it!" (Exclaim! Magazine-2003).
____ Their socio-political backdrops for the passionate future speech of hip hop mc Mindbender are "a real mind bender into the hip hop heart of darkness." (Toronto Star-2004) . Their production on Mindbender's latest double-LP, Beautiful Mutant , earned distribution with Urbnet/Outside Music . In contrast, their divine sound stylings with theology professor and hip hop mc, Ill Seer , have been featured on Vision Television Network and on the legendary Canadian Basements of Bad Men series on Handsolo Records . In between stretching extremes, their creative party rap beats on More or Les ' debut album: I only Stop for the Red Ants , had him rocking crowds with the 2004 Vans Warp Tour and The Perpetual Motion Roadshow . The release also earned a video single release for A Little Too Much and featured music in the short film, The Producer (Admit One) .
____ Vangel and Dorc , "aren't afraid to play with beats and sounds that are foreign to average hip-hop head's ears." (Eye-2004) So, when their not making hip hop, you might catch them producing tracks for Arkata or playing a show with Alexis on Fire . They have also performed alongside: Jeru the Damaja, Eternia, DJ Revolution, Louis Logic, Danimal, Lil' Dap, Paul Barman and The Abandoned Hearts Club. "The best of many good sets" (Exclaim! Magazine - 2003).
____ Ever expanding, 2004 kept the duo busy mixing and mastering a variety of projects, albums, and film work. Eventually their professional audio mastering company: Banging Masters , was born. They have since mastered material by artists such as: Buck 65, Moka Only, Raise Them and Eat Them, Miss Butter, DJ Moves, Fritz the Cat, Sixtoo, Conspiracy, and Delegates of Culture (UK) .
____ Being compared to the the legendary " Bomb Squad " (Exclaim! Magazine-2003) and the likes of " Erik B. and Rakim " (CurbSide Magazine-2002) , they continue to create innovative compositions that range from "...free-spirited" (Toronto Star-2004) to, "completely out of (this) universe.." (Pound Magazine -2003). Unclassifiably, Vangel and Dorc are making big things happen and are poised to take on the industry for all its worth.
