About Me

BIO:
Peterdeadpan is the assumed production alias of a sincere musician. Having been exposed to music at an early age, pdp's growth began with his formal music studies as a member of his grade school band and strings emsemble. "I remember hitting all the wrong notes, playing through rests, and resting during section solos". His thrist for musical experience continued into high school where he rehearsed with his city's symphony orchestra as a member of the viola section while spending his summers at Scarborough Music Camp.
As pdp's exposure to various genres of music grew, so did the scope of his musical interests. "When I first started really. I mean really listening to lyrics I was like, wow, this is potent." In 1997, pdp began studying at the University of Toronto to pursue his new fascination: words and meaning. It wasn't until 2000, upon completing his degree in Pol.Sci. and Philosophy, that pdp settled down and got a sampler.
The years that followed would solidify pdp as a passionate songwriter. "I basically immersed myself in what was happening around me; collaborating with Toronto area producers and musicians. I was hungry like Rita for musical collabos." This period would establish pdp as a competent vocalist/producer, having appeared on various Canadian hip hop albums and compilations under various alias' as well as live performances alongside hardcore groups such as Alexis on Fire, The Abandoned Hearts Club (RIP), and Arkata.
In 2003 peterdeadpan arrived at a mental junction that would eventually refine his focus. "When I stopped writing words, it just seemed natural to focus on the music and songwriting. I bought a computer, quit my job, and moved home". Setting out to create unique and theme-based instrumental projects, pdp began to feel at home as a producer.
His debut release: Steps Removed (a demo) is a quick-paced musical journey through a series of moving beatscapes. A combination of rich melodies, aggressive drum sequencing and poignant commentary, peterdeadpan's debut is a humble step toward a unique synthesis of sound.
