Sairupa is a Yogini and a musician, studying Ayurveda and natural medicine in Toronto, Canada. The voice has always been her first tool of self-exploration. She has worked with several gifted musicians over the past 6 years in Toronto, Canada. Sairupa trained as a yoga teacher through the School of Integrative Yoga Therapy with teacher Heather Greaves in Hamilton, Ontario. This particular training was attractive to Sairupa for many reasons, but specifically because it included training in anti-oppression. Sairupa's yoga teaching approach is through an anti-oppressive framework, focusing on the whole individual, establishing a safe, and non-competitive space to explore the mind/body connection. Sairupa facilitates workshops and classes around the city, and currently teaches an on-going queer and people of colour positive yoga class in the west end of Toronto. Sairupa believes in the healing qualities of yoga, and has experienced first hand, the use of yoga for the rejuvenation of health and energy, as well as caring for chronic ailments. Sairupa enjoys teaching yoga to children, youth, as well as adults, and passionately works towards making yoga accessible across all ages and abilities. Currently inspired by Ayurveda, Sairupa feels that using natural healing modalities can be self-empowering and encourages the human body’s innate ability to heal and be nurtured. She views being a teacher of yoga a natural step, in her own continual study of the tradition, and most importantly allows her to take her own health into her own hands.
