About Me

Welcome to G Moonwalker's Myspace page. Since his childhood, G has always been in love with music. With such a varied taste, ranging from urban music (garage, hip hop, grime) to 80s pop music, G musical influences can be very contrasting. However this enables him to draw on a wide range of musical tastes to create his very own versatile style. One day you could be listening to G rapping on a garage track, the next he could be knocking out an indie rock number. G's love of music saw him become a DJ in 1998, when many of the House anthems you still hear in night clubs today were dominating the charts and garage music was beginning to hit the mainsteam. Even today G still keeps up his favourite hobby and has produced his own complilations as well as the odd bootleg remix. G has been writing lyrics since his high school days, often to humour his fellow classmates. He was known for his creativity with words and impressed in English with some of his poetry. This creativity remained locked away until 2005, when G was asked to write some rap lyrics for 'Far Away' by a local Pop/RnB artist, Robbie B. G happily put his talents into action, quoting "its like writing poetry with attitude" when penned the lyrics to 'Far Away' within an hour! The song went down a storm and after tasting some success, G Moonwalker wanted more. G went on to pen his own tracks 'Parasite' (Featuring Robbie B) and 'Fancy a Stella' (Featuring Carly B and using a backing track kindly provided by the talented producer, B Wick). 'Fancy a Stella' has been a hit with most people who have listened to it, even those who's music tastes differ considerably. G and Carly B have since gone on to produce the eagerly awaited following up to 'Fancy a Stella' using another track produced by B Wick....This track is called 'Wasted' and the demo went on to receive positive feedback, although the finished article is yet to be released. In the meantime G used his versatility to create a completely different track in the form of 'Axel F'. Since keyboarding legend Harold Faltermeyer produced this masterpiece as the theme to Beverley Hills Cop back in the 80s, several artists have offered their own cover versions, however G was keen to remind a new generation that the original version still remains king and has brought it back over 20 years later, adding his own lyrics to give the track a new flava and yet another dimension. The response has been awesome and probably as enthusiastic as that of 'Fancy a Stella'. With the production of his debut album 'Is The World Ready' rapidly gathering momentum, further diversity is yet to be added with forthcoming tracks 'Groove All Night' (soon to be completed) a cover of the Bomb The Bass classic 'Megablast', a song dedicated to the memory of the 5 murdered women in G's home town of Ipswich called 'Somebody's Daughter' and the long awaited 'I'll Be There For You'. G will be working extremely hard in aiming to have the album ready towards the end of 2007

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: myspace.com/gmoonwalkermusic
Band Members: The man behind GMW is Clive Whiting and whilst this is a solo effort, he has been helped on some of his tracks by other local artists.
Influences: G Moonwalker has many influences from many walks of life. These range for 80s legends, such as The Pet Shop Boys, Human League, Ultravox, Erasure and Heaven 17, to the rapping talents of Lethal Bizzle, Kano, Genius Cru, So Solid Cru, Akala, 3rd Edge and Fort Minor (to name a few). G is also a huge fan of the legendary New Order, techo gods Scooter and up and coming heavy rock band, Viking Skull. G also draws influence off many of the great DJs, including Billy Bunter, BK, Nick Sentience and Lisa Lashes
Sounds Like: Not many rappers have a Suffolk twang, so its fair to say that maybe G Moonwalker has his own unique style of rapping. When singing, G Moonwalker's voice more suits indie/rocks tracks, such as New Order, Kaiser Chiefs, U2, The Fratellis and Dire Straits.
