These sisters are known for their melodic vocal lines and tight harmonies. Their original songs are passionate and personal with hooks and harmonies that stand out from standard acoustic fare.Karen and Amy Jones have been around music all of their lives. The women on their mom's side of the family were all known to have beautiful singing voices, and they were lucky enough to have parents who nurtured their musical ambitions.
After high school, Karen attended the Eastman School of Music in New York but found she didn't fit in with the rigid musical atmosphere the conservatory provided. She transferred to Penn State her sophomore year and put her vocal training to use in a different way, fronting several campus rock bands. She taught herself a few chords on her dad's beat-up acoustic guitar and started writing simple songs about guys and shoes. Over the years, with encouragement from some really good friends, she began writing songs about personal experiences…some dark, some light, and some which still include guys and shoes.Amy graduated from Temple University with a degree in Vocal Performance. Like her sister, she found herself pulling away from opera and classical music and gravitated toward alternative rock. She fell in love with Seattle grunge bands like Alice In Chains, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. No big surprise for her college classmates – at her senior recital, Amy performed an operatic arrangement of Guns n' Roses' Welcome to the Jungle.Karen and Amy finally started writing and performing together in February 2006. Known for their melodic vocal lines and tight harmonies, their acoustic performances are marked by intense, soaring vocals, and the way their voices blend has been described as "breathtaking." Their original songs, best described as "melodic acoustic rock," are passionate and personal with hooks and harmonies that stand out from standard acoustic fare. On occasion, Karen and Amy cover artists ranging from Nirvana to Tori Amos to the Indigo Girls to Nine Inch Nails to Led Zeppelin. The girls are currently performing in Philadelphia, New York and the greater Lehigh Valley area.* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *Places we've played:
