About Me

How It All BeganAt the age of thirteen I started playing guitar, by the age of sixteen I did my first paid gig with a funky indie band, Subsonic. For the next two years we continued doing gigs at local venues but I felt the music wasnt were it should be and the band eventually split. After a lot of thought I decided to take inspiration from the music I was listening to at the time, bands such as the RHCP, Hendrix and Jamiroquai.Blown away by Glastonbury 95 and its message of unity I decided to echo the new wave and what it had taught me. From then until now and into the future, taking my influences from the sixties children of love, the acid jazz scene of the seventies, the eighties metal movement, to the banging sounds of the techno and house of the nineties. To spit it all back out in the form of my own musical experiences. However not everything was going to plan, after moving from the suburban town of Warrington to enroll on a jazz HND at Manchesters city college. I was frustrated to find that the course was cancelled, leaving my musically and emotionally stranded. Stressed out and flushed I needed to find a rush. After a lot of thought I decided that if my music was going to progress, the last place I needed be was the none eventful town of Warrington. With my mind fixed on Manchester and the various scenes it offered. I set about buying a sampler to help me create sounds and backing tracks and getting into any studio that would have me. In 2002 I recorded my fist solo track (The One Soul Stop) at Pete Walkers level 1 studio in Ardwick, I managed to scrounge the money from Didsbury Jobcentre on the basis that it was for my career development. Peter kindly offered to meet me half way by co-producing and playing keys on my track. Three years and seven tracks later here I am pouring my heart out and growing every more determined to explore the thing I have only managed to scratch the surface of, continuing to play the anthems of a time that changed the way I think forever, it moved me and now Im moving you with the subliminal movement.Combining guitar based music with samples and synths. All tracks except The One Soul Stop has been recorded and written by me at home. With help from other musicians, such as Richie T, with his input of congas and drums on the Pressure, Dave ODawda, with electric piano on the Pressure and Gotta Get Up and Simon String with Violin on Gotta Get Up.I am now looking to work with other musicians promoters and producers to put together a debut album. Subliminal Movement continues to grow and evolve, getting closer to what it was always going to be, feelings of a psychedelic chilled out vibe with reflective hints of a chemical generation. ..
