About Me

ahoy! this is my my space, apparently. one day I might upload some pictures of me. beardless, as is the current fashion in bebbyland, mostly because I sold out and left uni. only in the meaningless physical dimension, though, I'm still politics student through and through, and of the most sickeningly pretentious kind. probably. :P I like to consider myself a radical (not a marxist, not an anarchist, but some groovy mix of the two and more), I'm currently listening to the craaaazy madman genius of messiaen's 'turganalia symphony' which arrived in the post this morning - mvt 8 has just finished, change cd time - and I think angela carter, samuel beckett and c.s. lewis are queens and kings among women and men. yeah I'm a full time parasite off other peoples genius. uh, that's me. hey. *smiles shyly*

My Interests

experimental and radical and interesting music of all kinds, 20th century literature, russian literature, linguistic philosophy, political and economic and sociological theory, non-stupid christian thought, ethan coen and the rest of the small collection of really good films I've seen. allllllllllll my select but fabulous group of friends. my lovely new (ericsson k700i) telephone :P

I'd like to meet:

people! nice people! I have this obsession with meeting people who have the same aesthetic taste as me currently, don't worry, I'll grow out of it. also, I'm a non-evangelical but (in theory at least :P) rather committed christian, so meeting any more of them would be nice too. huzzah!

Music:

all the usual indie claptrap (sonic youth, dinosaur jr, rodan, throwing muses, jesus and mary chain, etc, plus the fantabulously underrated KING CRIMSON!!!!!), great composers of the 1900s such as varese, bartok, shostakovich, schoenberg, stockhausen, ravel, and all the rest :P, not enough really good electronica and cecil taylor, ornette coleman and anthony braxton, and the dillinger escape plan whom I saw live, and who almost killed me. heehee.

Movies:

week end, fargo, goodfellas, videodrome, the last great wilderness, lilya 4-ever, the silence, pulp fiction, once upon a time in america, and so forth.

Television:

csi!!!! hehehe.

Books:

now there's a question. well let's have six:thomas pynchon, 'gravity's rainbow' albert camus, 'the rebel' angela carter, 'nights at the circus' samuel beckett, 'malone dies' ernesto laclau and chantal mouffe, 'hegemony and socialist strategy' nathalie sarraute, 'the planetarium'but there I've missed off dellilo, sartre, marquez, dostoyevsky and gunther grass' 'the tin drum.' teehee.
