About Me

Bobby Kray, born August 1980, was raised in Ladbroke Grove, West London with his parents, 3 sisters and a destiny to fulfil. Bobby was not your average kid growing up in Ladbroke Grove for he stood out from the crowd. Whilst his friends were listening to Pop, Jungle and Hardcore, Bobby was listening to the likes of Bob Marley, The Police, The Clash, Fleetwood Mac and ZZ Top....This musical diet was largely due to his parents record collection but also to Bobby's desire to hear music with a story and meaning. Whilst attending St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Primary School, Bobby first discovered his real fascination with music as it was there that Bobby first discovered he could sing. He attended his local church choir for a year or so and was also discovered by and accepted into Westminster Cathedral Choir School at the age of 9 but it was, however, not for Bobby and he turned the position down. After completing his GCSE's at St. Thomas More School in Chelsea Bobby decided to pack up and head for the hills....literally. He moved up to Carlisle in Cumbria (his family's hometown) where he set up a life for himself away from the big smoke of London. It was here that Bobby realised the true beauty of the open air and the simple life. After working on a dairy farm learning the ways of farm management Bobby decided, again, that this was not the path that was destined for him for he still had the desire to sing and had become well known in the North of England for his vocal skills. Upon this Bobby moved back to the opportunities of London to discover himself. Always having a head for numbers, He worked for various creative companies as an Accounts Manager. But this was only a means to an end for it was at this time that Bobby started to write the songs that would change his life forever. Always keen on showing his emotions and feelings, Bobby was a keen poet from a very early age, though not many people ever got to read his private confessions. And it was only after meeting two producers that had come to meet Bobby at Blackerdreads Record Store in Brixton where he worked part-time that lyrics and ideas were merged and transformed into songs. When Bobby met the 2 producers it was a match made in heaven. As a whole, they all wanted to make good, honest and real music and with Bobby always having an interest in Reggae it was only natural that this should be his path. With much hard work, many calls and many miles EekaMouse was tracked down to duet with Bobby on his album that Dennis Bovell had agreed to produce. The album was also mixed by Paul Epworth and award winning Bacon & Quarmbey. On top of this The Dub Band had agreed to perform on the whole album (much to Bobby's delight) and will be going on tour shortly with Bobby. Tales From a Skinny White Boy is out on August 27th 2007.
