DJ Renae Stanton - Biography“I suppose carrying around heavy boxes of records is not really that inviting a thing to a lot of girls. I mean, it doesn’t really work well with stilettos!†Renae Stanton’s explanation of the ‘boys club’ syndrome of professional DJing may be tongue in cheek but she is also doing her damndest to redress the imbalance. As one of Australia’s top emerging DJs of any sexual category, her reputation for playing spiky yet soulful sets has ensured she’s nudged herself firmly into the Sydney scene.Although having a strong inclination towards house, it is her ability and willingness to play across a variety of styles to ‘suit the mood’ that sets her apart. After all, as Renae says: “There’s about forty five million different genres of house! I mean I play really smooth cocktail stuff, disco and funky, punchy and really rocky, breaky house and electro without going too depressing. There’s always some kind of dance element to it. I believe people go out for a good time. When playing live there needs to be an element of bounce or fun. I do so many different things because I can see merits in all of them.â€
