CARMELINA IS WORKING ON DEBUT ALBUM "GENERATION Ñ"Singer-Songwriter Carmelina Vargas was born in Barahona, Dominican Republic and raised in Harlem. Carmelina grew up with parents who stressed education first. She honored her parent’s wish to the tune of a Bachelor of Arts in Literature. When a young girl grows up from an island in the Caribbean and moves to a melting pot like New York City, suddenly ones horizons expand. So it was for Carmelina. “Since I was a little girl all I wanted to sing and dance. Music touches everything i do. I come from a musical family – my dad was part of a merengue band and always encouraged me to be myself." After setting foot in Harlem and barely speaking a word of English, Carmelina’s dad handed her a Madonna cd and that’s when she instantly knew what she wanted to do with her life. Carmelina’s music style is geared toward a whole new generation – Generation Ñ. A digitally savy and acculturated generation that enjoys both, the American culture and also relish their Hispanic heritage.Carmelina has performed for thousands of fans including local and national events.
