About Me

My interests are reading, writing, singing, watching movies and TV, and playing music (I play the piano). I have a passion for all things old like music, movies, fashion, cars, etc... I'm not into this decade's pop culture whatsoever. I love the past and I love reading about our country's history. I sometimes wish I had been born earlier than the year I was born (1972). I have the heart of a baby boomer. Anyway, my musical tastes run from loving classic rock (40-80's Especially 80's metal, the big hair bands) to big band and the swinging standards of the Rat Pack and Bobby Darin. I also love chilling out to classic and modern jazz as well. The only thing I love about this decade is the technology. Anyway, that's what I'm into entertainment wise. The activites I love are reading and writing stories. I've been writing short stories since my teens and I'm hoping to write something that I can have published. I also love to sing and I am looking to find a local band to sing lead or backup with around town. I am a straightforward and sensitive person who likes to do my own thing in life and I'm not into "following the crowds." I don't care for trendiness or doing something just because it's popular. I have those old fashioned values like loyalty and honesty and I'm looking to meet people w/ the same values. So, if my profile interests you, drop me a line. My Interests

My interests are watching movies (especially old movies), singing in karaoke bars, spending quiet time at home, reading novels, and writing short stories. I also enjoy dining out and going for walks. I love spending time w/ my bird. I have a sky blue and white budgie (or parakeet as most people are more familiar w/ that term) named Peri. Peri is short for Periwinkle, which he slightly resembles. Peri is a very shy but sweet little bird who has some amusing antics that always makes me smile.

I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet Phil Collins & Rick Springfield, as mentioned on my page, since they have inspired me in different ways to follow my musical goals. I also wished I could have met Rod Serling when he was alive because I loved his writing style & thought he was a brilliant writer.

Music:

My musical likes range from the 1940's-80's. I love big band artists like Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman, the swinging standards of the Rat Pack and Bobby Darin, all classic rock from the 60's and 70's like Genesis, ELP, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, and most 80's songs but I especially love 80's metal bands like Dokken, Dio, Whitesnake, Van Halen, etc... I don't like any music that's popular today(especially rap). I'm an old school kind of gal.

Movies:

Mostly old black and white films from the Golden Age of Hollywood, bio films, WW2 pictures, and historical films. Some honorable mentions are "Beyond the Sea" (bio of Bobby Darin), "From Here to Eternity", "Tora! Tora! Tora!", "Midway", "Thirteen Days". Favorite actors are Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster (especially the movies they did together).

Television:

My favorite show of all time is the classic Twilight Zone w/ Rod Serling as host. Second favorite show is the original Star Trek. I don't like any reality shows. I also watch a lot of shows on TV Land, Nick at Nite, Turner Classic Movies, and the History Channel.

Books:

Biographies, modern and historical romance, history (especially anything about WW2).

Heroes:

People w/ artistic talent, people who are not afraid to stand up for their beliefs even if they are in the minority. John F Kennedy, Phil Collins, and Rod Serling are people whom I admire very much and have been a great source of inspiration to me in many different ways.
