VJ = VISUAL JOURNEYER

About Me

Well firstly I dont make films, I'm a locational new media artist, my work is not specific to site yet I place myself in or create new spaces to resituate elements from other locations and I make experimental videos and remix these into live video art performances.Someone wrote this about me for a gig last year it's pretty much on the nail.
"This diminutive digital darling, formally Vj D.light, now performs under her own fabulous name.
Vj-ing for over 8 years across New Zealand, she is known for defying the odds and sticking to %100 original content, which is sensationally rare! Like a passionate botanist she travels great distances to remote locations with eyes wide open to gather samples of unique, organic, abstract, timeless and naturalised images, with a dash of urban. These specimens merge and layer in emotive colour, shape and movement.
As a video artist her images have screened internationally and she is remembered for presenting spectacular live video performances at the legendary Gathering, Kaikora Roots festival, Visions down beat cafe, Destinations, Alpine unity's main zone, and many a Massive productions outdoor seasonal rave.
Gaining a reputation as a southern wanderer, she sails under the radar projecting and reconfiguring her ever-growing collection for your viewing pleasure with technical precision. Watch for the albatross.
Creativity, inspiration, professionalism, a few electric shocks and don't forget a little bit of bump and grind combine in a tinkering fusion of Naomi Lamb's many talents."
Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Video After Dark on Inertia an experimental video with UK sound artists A Glass Of MilK... "Apparently, as in Lamb’s video, inertia can give us pause for thought, or it can drive us crazy."
New Zealand Wilderness Magazine, November Issue..."In late May Stasi Turnbull and I [Sally Farr Biswell] drove up to meet artist Naomi Lamb in Karamea...Lamb is a new media artist known for her insightful video work and VJ mixes. She chose Karamea and the Heaphy Track for the dramatic scenery, but also for personal reasons. 'My Mum carried me on her back across the Heaphy when I was 18 months old...Its an amazing place, a place I want to capture on film, and there are so many stories here..."
Found in Presto magazine...Tania Boe of the Blue Earth Gallery thought my exhibition "...'A Moment of pause' achieves in creating a feeling of awe and discovery, a beautiful series of strong yet tranquil imagery unique to our home."
