A brief history by Robert Jimison
Rockin' Bones Videozine began as a d.i.y. video series and website in 2002. I was largely inspired by punk cinema such as the Decline Of Western Civilization and home video series such as Flipside and Target. The formative years of Rockin' Bones (2002-2004) were trademarked by a guerilla documentary style (hey - I had no budget and very little experience). The Videozine primarily featured a one person camera angle perspective of raw concert footage and very candid interviews with local and touring bands shot in various Texas locations. The bulk of the groups consisted of the punk, metal, rockabilly, garage, techno, shock rock, new wave, and horror variety.
After working with close to 100 groups and independently releasing five DVD compilations, I laid Rockin' Bones Videozine to rest and took 2005 off to complete college and pursue freelance work.
After testing the waters in corporate video and balancing several gigs as an independent contractor, I decided to merge my video company with my wife's clothing company to create Rockin' Bones Entertainment in 2006. Having taken some much needed time off, I decided to revive the series.
Rockin' Bones Videozine 6 was released in September of 2006 and featured a format that completely shed the guerilla style skin of previous efforts. It included concert videos, promotional music videos from around the world, indie movie trailers, cameos from horror movie legends, and a short film. This release is currently a free promotional item with clothing orders at http://www.rockinbones.net and at various events.
I am in pre-production for Rockin' Bones 7; due sometime in mid-2007. Once again, this will be a free promotional DVD release. I would like to make the focus of this upcoming DVD every bit as much short film oriented as music video oriented. For more details, check back with this profile.
