Sounds Like: What's up with the band?
Glen:
Glen's new album, "Mr. Lemons," described by HARP magazine as "Phillips most affecting and powerful solo work to date," features collaborations with Garrison Starr, Kim Richey and Neilson Hubbard, as well as a new take on Huey Lewis' I Want a New Drug. This is Phillips fourth solo release, the first on his own Umami label, and the 11 songs including the single "Everything But You" have a stripped-down vibe, reflecting the intimacy of his solo acoustic performances. Also just available, the rarities EP, "Unlucky 7." For more information, go to www.glenphillips.com or his Myspace page.
Dean:
Dean has written 3 songs for the upcoming independent film The Still Life. The film features music from Dean, Dizzy Reed of Guns and Roses, Louise Post, and Delaney Bramlett, among others. Dean co-wrote the songs with Still Life writer/director Joel Miller. The film has already been selected for exhibition at several film festivals in the fall of 2006. You can find out more about the movie here. Dean's other project, Stone Soup with former Crazy Horse lead singer Sonny Mone and newcomer Michael DiMauro on drums is in the finishing stages of mixing, and the result is a "classic singer-songwriter album in the vein of Neil Young and Crosby, Stills &Nash. Stay tuned!
Todd:
Todd Nichols formed his new band Lapdog in 1998, and has released two CD's on Abe's Records. "Near Tonight" (2000), and "Mayfly" (2003). Recently He and Lapdog guitarist, Johnny Hawthorn, have been busy producing several bands & solo artists in Los Angeles. The Lapdog site is lapdogmusic.com and the studio site is abesrecords.com .
